IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Peter Jok scored 20 of his 27 points in the first half and Iowa cruised to a 95-67 win over Texas Rio Grande Valley on Sunday. Kolten Wong Jersey.Tyler Cook scored 15 points and Isaiah Moss had a career-high 14 for the Hawkeyes (3-1), who shot 51 percent from the field and scored 41 points off 26 Vaqueros turnovers.Iowa went on a 26-7 run in the middle of the game to pull away from UTRGV -- including a faster start to the second half that coach Fran McCaffery has wanted from his young team.McCaffery watched his Hawkeyes turn a two-point halftime lead into a 53-47 deficit in Thursdays loss against Seton Hall -- an eight-point swing in 4 1/2 minutes. On Sunday, Iowa pushed a 46-33 lead at the break to 20 points in just a few minutes.Im really proud of how aggressively our team came out during the second half and executed, said forward Nicholas Baer, who had eight points and seven rebounds. I think thats something weve been struggling with.Jok, Iowas top scorer and lone returning starter from last season, left a few minutes into the second half after a knee-to-knee collision with a defender during a drive to the rim.Jok -- who 9-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-8 3-pointers, in 19 minutes -- stayed in to shoot his two free throws, but didnt play after that as a precaution. Jok wanted to go back in the game to test his knee, but McCaffery wasnt having it.The last thing I wanted to do was put him back in there and have something happen to him, McCaffery said.Antonio Green scored 17 points to lead UTRGV (0-4), which out-rebounded Iowa 43-38.Iowas Brady Ellingson scored 11 points.BIG PICTUREIowa: The Hawkeyes needed this pick-me-up after Thursdays tough loss to Seton Hall. Iowa still struggled from the foul line, hitting 20 of 30 attempts. Its an area the Hawkeyes need to clean up as the competition stiffens.UTRGV: The winless Vaqueros have struggled to find consistent offense this season. Turnovers are a big reason why. UTRGV has averaged 24.3 turnovers in its last three games, including a season-high tying 26 against the Hawkeyes.HIGHLIGHT REELCook, a freshman, continues to show off his athleticism and leaping ability, finishing four big dunks in the first half.During one stretch late in the half, Dom Uhl drove the lane and tossed an alley-oop to Cook for the two-handed slam. Less than a minute later, Christian Williams passed back to Cook in transition for an easy, wide-open dunk.INJURIESIowas Dale Jones did not play after suffering a fractured wrist in Thursdays game against Seton Hall. The backup forward is expected to miss 8-9 weeks.Jones, a senior co-captain who transferred to Iowa from junior college in 2015, played in only six games last year before a knee injury ended his season. He was expected to add depth to the teams frontcourt rotation this season.UP NEXTIowa faces a huge challenge in No. 8 Virginia on Friday in the Emerald Coast Classic in Florida. The Hawkeyes will play either Providence or Memphis on Saturday to wrap up the tournament.UTRGV goes for its first win of the season against Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday. Carlos Martinez Jersey . -- The plastic that was taped across the lockers in Oaklands clubhouse came down and the champagne that was on ice went back into the cooler. Albert Pujols Jersey . "Were just throwing s--- at the wall hoping something sticks," said Tortorella about the possible line combinations for Fridays game against Columbus. The Canucks have lost five straight games and six of their last seven, leaving them in a logjam in the Pacific Division, currently sitting fifth - good for ninth in the Western Conference. http:///...ith-hernandez-jersey . PAUL, Minn. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The overhaul is complete. The pieces are in place. And for the first time in years, there are expectations for the Jacksonville Jaguars. It might not be playoffs or bust in Jacksonville, but losing double-digit games is no longer acceptable. The Jaguars spent the last four years rebuilding the roster, growing it mostly through the draft, and then supplemented the makeover by spending more than $350 million (nearly $150 million guaranteed) in free agency the last two years to sign 10 starters. Now, general manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley believe they have a team capable of winning every week and competing for the AFC South title. Its a welcome feeling for a franchise that is an NFL-worst 19-61 since 2010.Its kind of cool because theres a lot of hype and stuff in the community, quarterback Blake Bortles said. But when you walk in the building, it kind of just stops. The noise stops because everybody in the building knows what our goal is and how were going to go about doing it.Jacksonville hasnt won more than five games in any of the last five years, the kind of consistent losing that leaves fans screaming for change and management often responding. But Jaguars owner Shad Khan has been patient during the restoration process. He even gave Bradley and his assistants one-year extensions in January, keeping them under contract through 2017.Although Khan has declined to put a number on how many games Bradley must win to stick around beyond 2016, he said a winning record is everybodys reasonable expectation at this point. The Jaguars seemingly -- finally -- have the talent to make it a reality. The expectations in this building are what we had hoped for, Bradley said. To keep building the roster through the draft, add some free agents to our current roster and wed feel like our roster would keep getting better and better with each year that weve been doing it. And were to this point right now.To me, its great. This is what wed hoped for, that youd say, `Hey, this is a good roster. And the expectations, well, thats what we had planned. When we put this thing together, we felt like at this time, this is the type of roster that wed have, so its a good thing. Here are some other things to know about the Jaguars heading into training camp:DEFENSIVE TURNAROUNND: After ranking near the bottom of the league in nearly every defensive category last season, Bradley fired coordinator Bob Babich and promoted longtime assistant Todd Wash to run the unit. Enos Slaughter Jersey. Wash will have several new faces to work with. The Jags signed defensive tackle Malik Jackson, free safety Tashaun Gipson and cornerback Prince Amukamara in free agency. Throw in the return of defensive end Dante Fowler, who missed his rookie season because of a knee injury, and the addition of highly touted rookies Jalen Ramsey and Miles Jack, and Jacksonville could have six or more new starters on that side of the ball.OFFENSIVE BREAKOUT: Bortles had a breakout season in 2015, throwing 35 touchdown passes and running for two more scores. But his 18 interceptions and 51 sacks led the league, leaving plenty of room for improvement. Bortles has one of the best receiver tandems (Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns) in the league, and his supporting cast should be better this season. The teams best offensive lineman, Brandon Linder, returns from injury, and the Jags signed veteran offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum to beef up Bortles blind side. Tight end Julius Thomas is fully recovered from a broken hand, and free agent running back Chris Ivory should provide an upgrade in short-yardage and goal-line situations.WOE LINE: The Jaguars are counting on Linder and Beachum to drastically improve one of the leagues worst offensive lines. Bortles has been sacked 106 times in two years, the most in NFL history over any two-year period. Linder is moving from guard to center, and Beachum, who is recovering from a knee injury, will compete with Luke Joeckel at left tackle. The loser likely will slide to left guard.TOUGH START: The NFL schedule makers seemingly did the Jaguars no favors with the early slate. Jacksonville opens at home against Green Bay, travels cross-country to play San Diego and then hosts Baltimore before traveling to London to face perennial division heavyweight Indianapolis. The Jaguars are 1-10 in September under Bradley and just 3-20 in the first two months of the season since 2012.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
