Elysium launched with no sharding with a populace cap although I cant speak for other servers and it was just nice. There was a degree of dynamic respawns, which helped greatly, but overall, it had been playable. Alot of the arguments I hear in favor of sharding are"there will be no mobs accessible to complete quests" or even"it will be too crowded to appreciate". I ENJOY the number of players, the competition for mobs, the push to attempt to pull ahead of the pack, although I can only talk for myself in this. It provides an incredible sense of life and community to participate. Blizzard has stated they don't wish to change anything that disturbs elements of WoW Classic and to me personally sharding, even if it's merely at the starting zones, would have a huge impact. It's kind of a culture for a new server to be a part of hurry and that server launching. Something that will NEVER happen again for the length of this server. That would be destroied by sharding. All because of the hyped boogeyman up which large zone populations that were starting will destroy WoW Classic. The beginning rush is a thing.
