The game is indeed mind-numbing, that it is all but impossible to play if you are not doing something different at the same time. There's overpowered equipment hidden behind drop rates, making artificial scarcity. The market is mainly broken, NPC shops are useless and inflation is an issue. The only reason people think it's deep is since JAGEX left in every combat insect which may be confused with a"high ability ceiling" Even though these bugs were accurate features, the grid-based and ability-less nature of the battle system cuts out a number of these tactical elements of other MMO battle systems.
