"The minister is embarking on three-day visit from today to Russia with a high level Indian delegation, to co-chair two meetings with the government of the Russian Federation," a government spokesman said.
Jaitley who is senior Indian minister also holds the portfolio of Finance and Corporate Affairs.
On Wednesday Jaitley will co-chair the first meeting of the India-Russia high level committee on science and technology with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin on the sidelines of the Technoprom Exhibition in the city of Novosibirsk.
"This is a newly established committee to discuss cooperation in high technologies," the spokesman said. "The defense minister will also address the main Plenary Session of the Technoprom Dan Marino Youth Jersey , which is a major annual science, technology and innovation exhibition of Russia."
Jaitley will co-chair the 17th meeting of the India-Russia inter governmental commission on Military-Technical cooperation in Moscow with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on Friday.
"The meeting will review the entire range of military and military-technical cooperation issues between India and Russia within the framework of the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries," the spokesman said.
Earlier this month Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia as part of his four-nation tour.
