TAIPEI cheap adidas stan smith , Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan residents began voting in the island's leadership and legislature elections at 8 a.m. Saturday and the polls will close at 4 p.m.

In a three-way race, Eric Chu of the Kuomintang (KMT), the island's ruling party since 2008, is competing for Taiwan's next leader with major opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen and the minority People First Party (PFP) chairman James Soong.

Chu, Tsai and Soong will cast ballot in New Taipei.

More than 15 cheap adidas superstar 80s ,000 polling stations opened across the island. About 18 million Taiwan residents are eligible to vote for the island's next leader and members of the legislature but it is hard to estimate how many voters will turn up, according to the election commission.

In 2012, about 74.38 percent of voters actually cast ballot.

The voting has proceeded smoothly as of 9:20 a.m.

The legislature election is being held simultaneously in Taiwan. For the legislature poll, 377 candidates are running for 79 directly elected regional seats and seats for ethnic minority groups, and 179 candidates from 18 parties cheap adidas superstar flowers , the most ever, are vying for 34 at-large seats. Taiwan's legislature has 113 seats.

Each eligible voter will cast two ballots in the legislature election -- one for a candidate representing the voter's district and the other for a political party to decide how many at-large seats each party can obtain.

Voting results will be announced before 10 p.m., according to the island's election commission.

LOS ANGELES, March 29 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. federal judge in Hawaii on Wednesday extended his previous nationwide order blocking the implementation of President Donald Trump's revised travel ban while the lawsuit continues.

U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson's original order halting the travel ban was issued on March 15, hours before the ban was set to go into effect, in the form of a nationwide temporary restraining order.

Court papers show that Watson granted a motion on Wednesday to turn his temporary restraining order into a preliminary injunction, extending his order against the ban while the case moves forward.

The move sets the stage for the Department of Justice to appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is the same court that upheld a national halt to Trump's first travel ban last month after a Seattle federal judge ruled against it.

Hawaii has become the first state in the United States to file a lawsuit against Trump's revised travel ban. Judge Watson blocked provisions of the March 6 executive order of Trump that would have frozen the refugee program for 120 days and stopped citizens of six Muslim countries from entering the United States.

The revised travel ban will bar entry of citizens of Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen for 90 days.

The new order lowered the named nations from seven to six, among other changes. Iraq, which was included in the first ban, has been taken off the list.

The state of Hawaii sued to stop the travel ban, arguing the president's policy violates the Constitution and the travel ban would harm its economy because of the loss of tourism and the ability to recruit international students.

Trump reacted to Watson's March 15 restraining order by calling the ruling "an unprecedented judicial overreach", pledging to take the legal fight all the way to the Supreme Court.

HEFEI, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Life's tough for China's younger generation. Finding jobs or spouses, and settling down in a sometimes tough and cruel world often lend itself to either giving up outright cheap adidas superstar supercolor , or detached ironic posturing. Many of China's youth of today have opted for the latter and refer to themselves as the "Buddha-like" generation.

Zhang Min, 23, is one of this generation. He is just about to graduate and has been informed that he has failed yet another job interview -- he has already sent out over 60 applications and attended 20 job fairs, but they all came to nothing, and he has no choice but to be philosophical.

"[Failure] does not bother me as much as before cheap adidas superstar slip on ," Zhang says. "Whatever will be, will be."

The phrase "Buddha-like youth" recently went viral after a popular WeChat article used the term to describe China's post-1990s generation.

"Having seen everything and keeping a casual and calm mindset toward life and career under mounting social pressure," the article wrote, "it's fine to have something or not. There is no need to pursue or win anything."

Young Chinese, perhaps ironically cheap adidas superstar foundation , have been quick to label themselves as Buddha-like youth. A Buddha-like relationship is, apparently, one of forgiveness, never forcing your better half to make changes, and accepting things as they are.

A Buddha-like career means employees no longer concerning themselves with promotion or office politics cheap adidas neo shoes , but simply getting on with the job in hand instead.

But there has been a backlash against the Buddha-like mindset, particularly among the older generation. They argue that such an approach is one defined by pessimism, indolence and sloth, leading to a reduced work ethic, lack of self-motivation and apathetic demeanor.

"A rapidly developing China brings about many reforms and changes www.cheapsuperstarshoes.org , which inevitably create challenges and great pressure to its younger generations, notably in career and life," says Tian Feng, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. "It's understandable that such a self-mocking subculture is buzzing on China's internet and prevalent among youngsters."
