WASHINGTON， July 31 (Xinhua) -- Separate shooting incidents occurred early Sunday in Austin， the capital city of the southern U.S. state of Texas， causing "multiple victims，" local police said on its Twitter account.
A woman in her 30s was shot dead in the Sixth Street entertainment district in downtown Austin， the Austin American-Statesman newspaper reported， citing the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services agency.
There were two separate shootings in the same area， the report added.
The scenes of the shootings were secure， said the police department. In an earlier post， the department said there was an active shooting incident downtown just before 3:00 a.m.(0800 GMT) and warned people to stay away from the area.
