In the document, Oakland objects to the submission by the Department of Justice a “Statement of Interest” in the action against the NFL and the Raiders.In short, the DOJ argues that Oakland should not be permitted to recover lost tax revenues through the antitrust laws. While not a full and complete attack on the overall legal effort, the DOJ’s position, if successful, would limit Oakland’s potential recovery — and it would limit the NFL’s potential exposure.Oakland also points out that first contact from the DOJ came in early June, one day before a scheduled (but since postponed) hearing on the NFL’s effort to dismiss the entire case. (The hearing is currently set for Friday.) It’s unclear why the DOJ became interested in the case, or why that interest emerged so recently. The list is headlined by Washington State’s star safety Jalen Thompson, who in 39 career games in Pullman tallied 191 total tackles, 23 passes defensed, six interceptions and a pair of forced fumbles. He is a legit early-round prospect and it will be interesting to see where Thompson goes tomorrow. The Packers, among other teams, have already worked him out.Joining Thompson in the Supplemental Draft are Wrest Virginia WRMarcus Simms, Syracuse LB Shyheim Cullen Dave Casper Jersey , Northland (Minn.) TE Devonaire Clarington, and St. Francis DB Bryant Perry. However, it’s likely that only Thompson and Simms will be selected.If a team selects a player in the Supplemental draft, they forfeit their pick in the following year’s regular NFL Draft in the round in which they used their supplemental draft pick. A team is able to select a player or choose to not use any of their supplemental picks. Last year, the New York Giants selected Sam Beal in the third supplemental round while the Washington Indigenous Persons took DB Adonis Alexander in the sixth, giving up those picks in this year’s regular draft.The Raiders have most recently used a supplemental pick in 2011, taking Terrelle Pryor in the third round.
