PARIS kd 9 elite ivory for sale , June 4 (Xinhua) -- Women's No. 2 seed Karolina Pliskova and No. 5 seed Elina Svitolina secured their "delayed" victories to move into last 16 at the 2017 French Open here on Sunday.
The two players' matches scheduled on Saturday were put off until Sunday due to rain late in the afternoon. Pliskova converted 6 of 8 break points in a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Carina Witthoeft, with winning percentage on first and second serve bettering that of her German opponent, also finishing a total of 34 winners.
After securing her first appearance in last 16 at Roland Garros, Pliskova, placed third on WTA world rankings, still felt that she was not at her best level.
"I don't think that I'm playing the best tennis. It's good, and I can still improve," Pliskova said.
"The second set was the best so far that I played in this tournament. But still there are some things that I want to improve and play better," she added.
Svitolina needed one hour and 28 minutes to seal her 6-4, 7-5 win against Magda Linette of Poland.
The 11th-seeded Caroline Wozniacki overcame the No. 8 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in a highly-anticipated round of 16 clash.
"I knew it was going to be a tough match going in. My game plan was working and kind of kept her on her toes with putting in some dropshots and mixing up the pace," said Wozniacki.
"Caroline was defending very good today and playing very deep, close to the lines. I felt like I lost my chances," commented Kuznetsova, who eliminated China's Zhang Shuai in the third round.

CHICAGO, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- A 23-year-old man was shot and killed after he brandished a knife at police officers in northern St. Louis, the U.S. state of Missouri, on Tuesday, local authorities said.
Police said that the shooting involving two officers took place around 12:30 p.m. local time in the city's sixth district, about a few miles away from the turbulent suburb of Ferguson where the shooting death of an 18-year-old unarmed black teen sparked violent protests and clashes.
Shortly after the incident, St. Louis Metropolitan police chief Sam Dotson said in a tweet that the suspect brandished a knife at officers and that no officers were injured.
According to the police, two officers arrived at the district after receiving a 911 call from employees of a local convenience store, who said the man had taken drinks and food from the store without paying for them.
Both officers gave the suspect verbal commands, repeatedly ordering him to drop the knife, Dotson told reporters. The two fired their weapons as the suspect began approaching them. "" Suspect yelled kill me now and approached,"" he said in the tweet.
Investigation is still under way, and the suspect's name was not released.
The shooting came at a sensitive time as nearby Ferguson has been embroiled in tense confrontations between police and protesters for the past days, sparking a racially charged debate over the simmering mistrust between law enforcement officers and local communities.
When asked about tensions in the St. Louis area, the police chief said, ""I think anyone who has been watching television over the last week has to be concerned ... I think it's important people understand what happened.""
But he noted that ""we have a different situation here, handled much better.""

VIENNA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen sharply criticized Britain's approach to Brexit under Prime Minister Theresa May.
In an interview with the Austria Press Agency published on Friday, Alexander Van der Bellen said, there presently exist "100,000 open questions to clarify."
He pointed out that numerous issues concerning personal profit, such as the pensions of British citizens living in the European Union (EU), have not yet been answered. There has "not one single compromisable proposal" from the May administration, he said.
The president added the Brexit is nonetheless to be accepted, though it serves as a "wake-up call" to the rest of the EU.
He also referred to the nationalist rhetoric of far-right politicians such as Geert Wilders of the PVV party in Holland and Marine Le Pen, the president of the National Front in France, as "completely unrealistic."
Earlier this month, Britain's EU envoy Tim Barrow informed the office of European Council President Donald Tusk of Britain's intention to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty on March 29, nine months after the country voted to leave the bloc.
However, except for finally settling on the date to formally start the Brexit
