China Beijing Environment Exchange, a platform for carbon trade, pollution rights trade and other exchanges, launched the service of Lvxingzhe (green drivers) on Tuesday.
Private car owners access the service through a WeChat account. Subscribers to the service need to have a gadget installed to their vehicle to keep records of their driving days and calculate energy consumption, the exchange said in a statement.
Each car owner will get 0.5 yuan per day for not driving their cars, the exchange said.
The service is launched to use the market to alleviate traffic congestion and cut car emissions, it said.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- One million babies each year died within 24 hours of birth from mostly preventable causes, said a UN report released here Tuesday, highlighting more efforts are needed to reduce newborn death rates worldwide.
The 2014 Committing to Child Survival: A Promise Renewed progress report showed that many of these deaths could be easily prevented with simple, cost-effective interventions before, during and immediately after birth. The report, released by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), is the second in a series intended to track progress on child survival and hold governments accountable.
"The data clearly demonstrate that an infant's chances of survival increase dramatically when their mother has sustained access to quality health care during pregnancy and delivery," Geeta Rao Gupta, UNICEF's deputy executive director, said in a statement. "Special efforts must also be made to ensure that the most vulnerable are reached."
Since 1990, the number of under-five deaths has been cut in half from 12.7 million to 6.3 million. But more remains to be done. The first 28 days of a newborn's life are the most vulnerable and as it stands now almost 2.8 million babies die each year during this period.
Failures in the health system during the critical time around delivery as a significant contributing factor to these unnecessary deaths, the report said.
The education level and age of the mother also has a significant bearing on the chances of her baby's survival. Neonatal mortality rates among mothers with no education are nearly twice as high for those with secondary schooling and above.
Around half of all women do not receive the recommended minimum of four antenatal care visits during their pregnancy. Complications during labor are responsible for around one quarter of all neonatal deaths worldwide. In 2012, one in three babies ( approximately 44 million) entered the world without adequate medical support.
While evidence shows that breastfeeding the newborn within one hour of birth reduces the risk of neonatal death by 44 percent, less than half of all newborns worldwide receive the benefits of immediate breastfeeding.
The report, however, suggests that in every region, except sub- Saharan Africa, the proportion of under-five mortality among the poorest sections of society is declining faster than in the richest.
"It is deeply heartening that the equity gap in child survival is continuing to narrow," said Rao Gupta. "We need to harness this momentum and use it to drive forward programs that focus resources on the poorest and marginalized households; a strategy which has the potential to save the largest number of children's lives."
A Promise Renewed is a movement launched by UN Secretary- General Ban Ki-moon to intensify global action to improve the health of women and children and reduce preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths. Since June 2012, 178 governments, members of civil society and the private sector have signed a pledge to redouble their efforts for the cause.
MANILA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Central Bank of the Philippinessaid on Friday that personal remittances from Overseas FilipinosWorkers (OFWs) amounted to 2.6 billion U.S. dollars in July.
It was an 8.7 percent year-on-year increase, bringing the totalremittances from January to July 2017 to 17.9 billion U.S. dollars,or an increase of 5.9 percent from the same period in 2016.
On a year-to-date basis, cash remittances posted 5.0 percentgrowth, reaching 16.1 billion U.S. dollars in January to July2017.
Central Bank officer-in-charge Diwa Guinigundo said cashremittances from both land-based and sea-based workers summed up to12.8 billion U.S. dollars and 3.3 billion U.S. dollars,respectively.
Cash remittances coming from the United States, Saudi Arabia,UAE, Singapore, Japan, Britain, Qatar, Kuwait, Germany and China'sHong Kong comprised about 80 percent of total cash remittances inthe first seven months of 2017, he said.
"The sustained increase in OFW remittances was supported bystable demand for skilled Filipino workers abroad," Guinigundosaid.
