NAIROBI [url=http://www.cheapsuperstarshoes.org/...n-trainer-black.html]Cheap Adidas Originals Superstar Slip On Trainer Black[/url] , July 10 (Xinhua) -- Somalia in partnership with multilateral allies is working on modalities of institutionalizing political pluralism through registration of parties ahead of 2021 polls, an official said on Monday.
Chairperson of Somalia's National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC), Halima Ibrahim said that registration of political parties that have sound policy and legal structures will pave way for realization of "one person one vote" ideal aimed at promoting participatory democracy in the horn of African state.
"We have created an office for registering political parties headed by a former minister. In the last two years, we have gained new ground in strengthening institutional capacity of political parties through registration and financing," Ibrahim.
She spoke in Nairobi during a workshop on strengthening the institutional capacity of Somalia's polls body to facilitate political parties registration and financing attended by experts from Arab and African states.
The three-day workshop was supported by the UN Integrated Electoral Support Group (IESG) in partnership with the Arab Electoral Management Bodies Organization (ArabEMBs) and UNDP Regional Hub for Arab States.
Ibrahim said that Mogadishu is keen to gain expertise from bilateral partners in Africa and the Arab World on how to reconstruct political institutions after decades of civil strife.
"Our country has suffered from collapse of political institutions and we are ready to learn from experiences of Arab and African countries as we register more political parties to participate in the upcoming elections," said Ibrahim.
The Somalia government in September 2016 enacted a law to govern registration and regulation of political parties before the country hold national polls based on one person one vote in 2021.
Ibrahim said Somalia polls body has established structures to embed political pluralism in the country's nascent democratization agenda.
"We have prepared a manual (booklet) to guide registration of political parties and have set up mechanisms to promote a harmonious working relationship with them," said Ibrahim, adding that Somalia's poll body has embarked on public awareness campaigns to promote the concept of multipartism.
The Political Parties Registration Office set up in May by Somalia government and its multilateral partners marked a new chapter in the Horn of African country's quest to entrench political pluralism.
Director and Chief Electoral Advisor at the UN Integrated Electoral Support Group, Gerald Mitchell said that formation of political parties with solid structures will hasten Somalia's rebirth.
"Rebuilding democratic institutions in Somalia hinges on creation of professionally run political parties," Mitchell remarked adding that the era of participatory democracy in Somalia is looming.

BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- "Carol" is leading the nominations at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards with five entries.
The period drama tells the story of two women who fall in love in the 1950s.
"Carol" will compete for best film drama, original score and best director.
Actresses Cate Blanchet and Rooney Mara are both up for best actress honours.
"The Revenant," "The Big Short," and "Steve Jobs" each received four nods.
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is nominated for directing the film "The Revenant."
The director says he is planning a party already.
"I am feeling very happy, very thankful for the recognition of the work of everybody, almost everybody, involved in the film. I think everybody did a terrific job and I am super happy that we will have a reason to get together and have a drink and celebrate. That is the greatest part of it you know? Very happy, very excited about it."
Veteran actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who scored a best actor nomination for his role in "The Revenant," is widely considered the front-runner to win the award this year.
He will be competing with last year's winner Eddie Redmayne, who also won a nomination this year for portraying the world's first transgender person Lili Elbe in the film "The Danish Girl."
Other nominees in the category include Michael Fassbender in "Steve Jobs" and Will Smith in "Concussion."
In the television categories, the nominations come somewhat as a surprise with nominations widely spread.
"American Crime," "Fargo," "Mr Robot," "Outlander," "Transparent" and "Wolf Hall" all landed three nominations each.
In the best drama TV series category, Empire, Mr Robot, Narcos and Outlander are competing for the first time, while Game of Thrones is nominated again.
Past winners such as "The Affair" and "Mad Men" were shut out in the field.
The best acting awards in a TV series will have some household names in the ring, including Emmy winner Viola Davis from "How to Get Away With Murder", Taraji P. Henson from "Empire", Robin Wright from "House of Cards" and Jon Hamm for "Mad Men."
Another surprise is Lady Gaga who is nominated in the best actress in a miniseries for her role in "American Horror Story: Hotel."
The nominations and winners of the Golden Globe Awards are decided by 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association from 55 countries.
Ricky Gervais will return to host the ceremony on January 10th.
