SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Neymar showed why he is carrying Brazils hopes at the World Cup, scoring twice on Thursday to help the underwhelming hosts escape a disappointing start to the tournament. Ryan Switzer Jersey . With Brazil struggling and down a goal against a spirited Croatian team, Neymar came through to lead his team to a 3-1 win in the opening match, scoring once in each half. The killer goal to make the score 2-1 was a hotly contested penalty awarded by Japanese referee Yuichi Nishimura. "Things werent going well," he said. "The first match is always difficult, we were anxious, we were nervous. Im glad I was able to get the goals we needed at the time we needed them." "He is a special player and we know that," Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said. "And he needs to know that we know that." Brazil got off to a slow start in its home tournament. Defender Marcelo found his own net while trying to clear a low cross by Ivica Olic in the 11th minute, stunning the crowd of more than 62,100 packing the Itaquerao Stadium. But Neymar equalized in the 29th, firing a perfectly placed low shot that went in off the post. He said he didnt hit the ball perfectly, "but it went in, its all that matters." "Its important to start these tournaments on the right foot, with a victory," said Neymar. "Im happy that I got to score, but the entire team deserves credit. We maintained our calm and showed we could battle back." The game turned on a controversial penalty awarded by Nishimura in the second half after striker Fred went down inside the area under minimal contact from defender Dejan Lovren. Neymar scored from the spot in the 71st minute, getting his 33rd goal with Brazil. Croatia goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa nearly saved Neymars shot, but it was struck hard enough to deflect into the net. The Croatians were furious. "If that was a penalty, we should be playing basketball. Those kinds of fouls are penalized there," Croatia coach Niko Kovac said. "That is shameful, this is not a World Cup referee. He had one kind of criteria for them and another for us. The rules were not the same," Kovac said. As Croatia searched desperately for an equalizer, Oscar added to the lead in the first minute of injury time with a toe poke from just outside the penalty area. A draw would have been a huge disappointment for Brazil, which had won its opening match the last eight times and is overwhelming favourite to win the competition. "The team didnt give up," Brazil defender David Luiz said "We knew it would be hard but we played well and got that first goal and then the victory." The tournament finally got underway as planned after months of talk about the preparation problems that plagued Brazil since it was picked as host seven years ago. The troubled Itaquerao, which wasnt fully finished for the opener, held up without major setbacks to fans or the match itself, although part of the lights atop the pitch went out a few times for brief periods in the first half. ------ Lineups: Brazil: Julio Cesar, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Marcelo, Luiz Gustavo, Paulinho (Hernanes, 63), Oscar, Neymar (Ramires, 88), Hulk (Bernard, 68), Fred. Croatia: Stipe Pletikosa, Sime Vrsaljko, Darijo Srna, Dejan Lovren, Vedran Corluka, Ivan Rakitic, Nikica Jelavic (Ante Rebic, 78), Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic, Ivica Olic, Mateo Kovacic (Marcelo Brozovic, 61). Jourdan Lewis Jersey .Y. -- Syracuses streak lives on -- barely. Xavier Woods Youth Jersey . Manager Ryan Nelsen has confirmed Brazilian No. 1 Julio Cesar will be rested for Wednesdays first leg of the semifinal. That opens the door for Bendik, who started 33 games for Toronto last season. MILWAUKEE -- Khris Davis bat splintered after making solid contact with the pitch and he started running. He didnt know where the ball landed, but suddenly his fellow Milwaukee Brewers were rushing him at first base. He got doused with a celebratory cup of water and quickly figured out what happened. Davis hit a game-ending, two run single to centre with the bases loaded in the ninth off Pittsburgh Pirates closer Mark Melancon for a 4-3 win Thursday. "I was just looking around and all of a sudden my teammates were running at me," the second-year left fielder said about the postgame celebration and impromptu shower. "I just took it with a good smile, glad I could help win." A nine-game homestand ended on a high note for the surprising Brewers, who maintained their five-game lead over St. Louis in the NL Central and got their fourth win in five games. It was a big confidence boost especially for Davis, a young slugger who struggled the last few weeks but has showed signs of breaking out of his slump. His average had dipped to .212 before going 4 for 9 in three games against the Pirates. Does this make him "Klutch" Davis? "Im not big on nicknames, but it sounds good," Davis said with a laugh. "Why not?" The comeback spoiled the return of Pirates starter Wandy Rodriguez from the disabled list with right knee inflammation. Rodriguez allowed solo homers to Rickie Weeks and Martin Maldonado but struck out four in his first start since April 19. Gaby Sanchezs solo homer off Yovani Gallardo in the sixth snapped a 2-2 tie to give the Pirates the lead until Melancon (1-2) broke down in the ninth. Subbing for injured closer Jason Grilli, Melancon had converted his four previous save opportunities. Ryan Braun led off the ninth by singling. Melancon walked the next two hitters to load the bases with nobody out. "Hes a human being and just didnt have his best stuff today. The walks are uncharacteristic," manager Clint Hurdle said. "Hes been here for a while, and thats something we havent seen." Up came Davis,, who smashed his broken-bat hit to drive in Braun and Jonathan Lucroy. Xavier Woods Womens Jersey. Melancon had given up just one walk in 19 previous appearances this season before Thursdays meltdown. "I just put myself in a bad spot," Melancon said. The Pirates nearly came through with a win for Rodriguez, who fared much better Thursday than during two rehab starts in the minors. The veteran left-handed posted a 10.38 ERA with Double-A Altoona. "I dont pay attention to my speed. I pay more attention to how I located the ball," Rodriguez said. "I only made two mistakes today." Weeks homered the other way into the right-field corner off a 2-1 slider in the third to extend the second basemans hitting streak to eight. He finished 3 for 4. Rodriguez entered with a 7.65 ERA, while Melancon had a 1.42 ERA. In the end, the Brewers ended up having more success against the closer. Reliever Rob Wooten (1-1) threw 1-1-3 scoreless innings. Gallardo allowed five hits, three runs and two walks, and struck out six in 6 1-3 innings. Gallardo "did a nice job," manager Ron Roenicke said. "He made one mistake on a high slider, but I thought he threw well. He kept us in there, and we scratched." The short-handed Brewers went a second day without star outfielder Carlos Gomez, who is nursing a sore back while serving a three-game suspension for his role in a benches-clearing brawl between the teams April 20 in Pittsburgh. The Pirates Tony Sanchez had a two-run homer in the fifth, his first of the year. Notes: The Brewers announced that Premier League team Swansea and Mexican club Chivas would meet July 16 for the first professional soccer match at Miller Park. ... Roenicke said Gomez was feeling much better Thursday. Gomez left Tuesdays game with the injury, and his dropped his appeal of the suspension the next day. Gomez is eligible to return Saturday against the Cubs. ... Milwaukee opens the three-game set Friday in Chicago with starter Kyle Lohse (4-1). The Pirates start Edinson Volquez (1-3) to open a series Friday in New York against the Yankees. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

SAN ANTONIO -- Kawhi Leonard could have been devastated by losing last seasons NBA Finals. Jake Elliott Bengals Jersey . Instead, he vowed to get better. Just think -- the San Antonio Spurs youngest star is only getting started. Hes a champion now, with the Spurs beating the Miami Heat 104-87 on Sunday night in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, finishing off a 4-1 triumph. And after watching the Heat celebrate last season, Leonard was the pick as MVP of the series, accepting his award from 11-time champion Bill Russell. "Everybody is just living in the moment right now," Leonard said. "Really dont know whats going on." Hell figure it out quick. After all, the Spurs know titles -- this one being their fifth since 1999. When Commissioner Adam Silver announced Leonard as the MVP, he was mobbed by his teammates and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich roared with laughter, knowing Leonard would have to do what he hates most -- talk about himself. "Right now, its just surreal to me," Leonard said. "I have a great group of guys behind me." Leonard had 22 points and 10 rebounds, his third straight big game in the series. He fouled out in the fourth quarter, which was barely noticed after the job he did helping keep LeBron James in some sort of check over the final three quarters. When it was over -- actually, a few seconds before it was over -- James led a group of Heat players down to the Spurs bench for the first round of congratulatory hugs. The first one he gave, and rightly so, was to Leonard. It was James taking the trophy from Russell in each of the last two seasons, after Miamis titles. This time, the night belonged to Leonard, a 22-year-old who the Spurs have long thought was the heir apparent to the Big 3 of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. "The first two games, he didnt play so well," James said about Leonard. "I thought he attacked more in the last three games, shot the ball extremely well." Added Heat guard Dwyane Wade: "Its like he just played free. ... Hes the future of this team." The Big 3 in San Antonio is still championship-good. But their key guy now might be Leonard, who just took over this series. "Hes a great learner and hes super competitive, has a drive to be the best thats really uncommon in our league," Popovich said. "He walks the walk. I mean, hes there early, hes there late. He wants more. He wants me and the coaches to push him. So I just talked to him about not being in that defer sort of stage. The hell with Tony, the hell with Timmy, the hell with Manu, you play the game. You are the man." In this series, he absolutely was. Leonard averaged 17.8 points on 61 per cent shooting. And he became the youngest Finals MVP since Duncan won it for the Spurs in 1999. Carl Lawson Jersey . Roma has a game in hand but now second place is even at risk for the capital side as Napoli moved to within three points with the win. "The result is not always fair," Roma coach Rudi Garcia said. "If we play like this until the end we will win many matches. John Ross Bengals Jersey . Raonic, the No. 8 seed from Thornhill, Ont., had 18 aces in the match. He needed one hour 39 minutes to complete the victory.NEW YORK -- The New Jersey Devils put up a more respectable number of shots, and the added offence produced just enough goals to beat the rival New York Rangers again. Eric Gelinas scored on a power play 1:15 into overtime, after the Devils squandered the lead in the final seconds of regulation, to lift New Jersey to a 4-3 win Saturday night. The Devils managed only 11 shots Friday in a 3-1 home loss to Detroit. They fired 24 at Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, and got four past the man with the new seven-year, $59.5 million contract. "Im fortunate to be out there in that type of situation, and I gave it a shot," Gelinas said. "It definitely feels good to be rewarded and to get that winner, but it was a team effort." New Jersey has won all three meetings against the Rangers this season, including two at Madison Square Garden, with two remaining. "These are fun games to play," said Devils goalie Martin Brodeur, who wore new pads without breaking them in. "To come in here, get the puck to the net, score some goals, it feels good." Gelinas one-timed a shot, off a pass from Patrik Elias, from above the right circle past Lundqvist. The goal came 13 seconds after Rangers captain Ryan Callahan high-sticked Andy Greene in the mouth. "My intent was to swing around and get his stick, but it comes up too high and catches him," Callahan said. "Its a bad penalty. It cost us a point." Michael Ryder had put the Devils ahead 3-2 with 4:04 left. Chris Kreider tied it on a power-play goal with 21.3 seconds left. Brodeur made 21 saves for the Devils, who earned just their third win in nine games (3-5-1). Travis Zajac lifted the Devils into a 2-all tie 5:58 into the third period. Cam Janssen also scored, and Jaromir Jagr and Tim Sestito both had two assists. Brad Richards and Mats Zuccarello also had goals for the Rangers, who again failed to move two games over .500 as they began a nine-game homestand. Lundqvist made 20 saves in his first home start since signing his contract extension. The Rangers fell to 11-1-1 when leading after two periods and 14-2-1 when scoring first. "Its a big point," Lundqvist said of the overtime loss. "We never gave up, so thats a good sign. We just didnt get the bounces." Zajac, in his 500th NHL game, got the Devils even when he cleaned up a rebound of a shot by Jagr and scored from in close. The Devils, with revamped line combinations and changes to the lineup, put early pressure on Lundqvist, but despite recording the first three shots, New Jersey fell behind 3:32 in. Jordan Willis Jersey. New York raced out of its zone on a 2-on-1 break, with Richards carrying the puck on left wing alongside Callahan to his right. Richards snapped a drive from the left circle -- the Rangers first shot -- that beat Brodeur stick side for his team-leading ninth and second in two games. There was more jump to the Devils offence than on Friday, yet they couldnt get anything past Lundqvist in the first period on nine shots. "We knew we were going to need some depth contributions," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "We got them from Janssen, the fourth line, Peter Harrold, who I thought was excellent. "We needed a lot of energy, and those guys gave it to us." The Rangers made the most of their early offence again in the second period, this time scoring on their second shot that came off a big rebound. Callahan ripped a drive from the right circle that Brodeur sticked away to his right, but it came to Zuccarello, who stepped into a hard shot from the left circle that easily found its way into the open left side 57 seconds in. New Jersey got a fortunate bounce when Janssens third of the season cut the deficit in half at 6:02. The rugged forward, who scored only three goals in 312 career NHL games before this season, crashed the net toward a rebound of Sestitos shot and knocked the puck past Lundqvist with his left skate. The on-ice call stood up to a video review. "I thought it was a kick, but it doesnt matter," said Lundqvist, who will make his third straight start Sunday against Washington. "They got it, and in the end they just managed to get the bounces. Its a frustrating loss." Brodeur earned the secondary assist, the 43rd of his career. NOTES: Rangers D Marc Staal was struck in the head by the arm of New Jerseys Reid Boucher in the third period and left the game. It wasnt immediately known if Staal would play Sunday. ... Harrold filled in for D Marek Zidlicky, who sat out with an upper-body injury. RW Damien Brunner returned to the lineup after being a healthy scratch Friday, replacing C Jacob Josefson. ... D Justin Falk replaced D Michael Del Zotto, and newly recalled C J.T. Miller took LW Benoit Pouliots place in the Rangers lineup. TORONTO -- The first practice of Toronto Maple Leafs training camp was brought to you by the letter "D. Obi Melifonwu Raiders Jersey ." "Probably the whole year," forward Matt Frattin said. "Defence wins championships." Forget about a championship for a second. The Leafs are just trying to win more games and make the playoffs. After giving up almost 36 shots a game last year, the most in the NHL, coach Randy Carlyle and his staff spent Saturday installing a new defensive-zone system. Its not a drastic difference, but there are tweaks that players hope will make them more effective and less vulnerable this season. "Were going to try something a little different," winger Joffrey Lupul said. "I think its going to take a little bit of the second-guessing out of it. .. Its nothing that no ones never seen before. "I think maybe last year was something weve never seen before. This is more back to kind of how you grew up playing." Most kids dont grow up playing a style that sees them get outshot by eight per game, and one of the goals this season is to have the puck more and, as a result, put goaltenders Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer under less pressure. Step one is changing some responsibilities. Bernier described it as players swarming the puck less and needing to be more patient. Much of the change has to do with wingers cheating more to the point than collapsing toward the net. "Sometimes last year it worked, sometimes it felt like that puck was always getting up top and they were getting a lot of shots because of it," Lupul said. "Its systematically a little different, but at the end of the day it comes down to those one-on-one battles." Along with new assistants Steve Spott and Peter Horachek, Carlyle said the staff went over different scenarios this summer and didnt make too many major changes to systems. Like everything else, defence is about the little things. "The difference is, where do you move your winger? Do you move him down the wall to squeeze or do you hold him tight to the point coverage? Do you hold a guy in the middle of the ice?" Carlyle said. "Those are things: your rotation when the puck changes sides, who goes. "Theyre all basically based on the same thing, other than the fact that we have to do a better job of being stiffer and harder to play against." Carlyle said veteran Roman Polak, acquired during the draft from the St. Louis Blues for Carl Gunnarsson, can help in that area. But Polak is just one defenceman, and the Leafs know as a group they have to be better defensively than last season. One area is communication. "Any time you can have a group of guys that communicate, it makes the game a lot easier and it makes it a lot easier to make plays," defenceman Cody Franson said. "I think thats one area we can definitely improve in, and itll help us break out of zones a lot quicker." One simple goal for the Leafs is to have the puck more than they did last season, but thats easier said than done. When they dont have it, they know they have to be better at cutting down on quality chances. Centre Nazem Kadri said "its going to take some time to wrap our heads around" the new defensive system. But Carlyle isnt worried about players picking it up. "Theyll get it," Carlyle said. "That what this is about, thats what the exhibition games are about. "As a coaching staff, you pick your poison on the things that youre going to shove at the players, and I guarantee you every coach is shoving defensive-zone coverage." Notes -- Centre Tyler Bozak and right-winger David Clarkson are out with what Carlyle called lower-body injuries. The players got hurt during pre-training camp workouts, and theres no time frame for their training-camp debuts. Carlyle said he did not foresee them being long-term problems. ... The Leafs signed Quebec Remparts defenceman Cody Donaghey to a three-year, entry-level contract. The 18-year-old from St. Johns, N.L., impressed at rookie camp in London, Ont., to earn a spot in main camp. Eddie Vanderdoes Jersey.During the week, McCoy told reporters he respected Hoyer for his intelligence, athleticism and how he conducts himself on and off the field. This wasnt an act, some attempt at psyching out Hoyer. Marshawn Lynch Youth Jersey .9 million deal Thursday. The 25-year McGinn had 19 goals and 19 assists in 79 games last season in helping the Avalanche tie a franchise record with 52 wins.DENVER -- Both the NFL opener and Peyton Manning were a little tardy. It was well worth the wait. Manning and the Denver Broncos waited eight long months, then another 33 minutes to get the season started because of a lightning storm. After three punts to start things off, Manning threw a record-tying seven touchdown passes, something no one had done in 44 years, in directing Denver to a 49-27 victory over Super Bowl champion Baltimore on Thursday night in a much-anticipated rematch against the team that ended the Broncos playoff run in January. Manning connected with his most prized addition, Wes Welker, and former college basketball player Julius Thomas and Demaryius Thomas for two TDs each in piling up the most points scored on the Ravens in their 18-year history. "I dont like excuses but I do think that lightning delay did slow us down," Manning said. "You guys have seen teams break it down: you come up for the team prayer, you put your hands in and you say, Broncos on 3, and you go out to the field. "We did it three times tonight," Manning said. "We did it, went back and sat down for 10 minutes and came back up again. Broncos on 3, now sit down for another 10 minutes. I know they had to deal with it, too, but it took us a while to get started." Wearing an orange-and-grey glove like the one he wore on that icy January night the last time these teams met, Manning took a while to get warmed up against a defence that had to replace seven Super Bowl starters. He ditched the glove when the rain stopped -- and then was unstoppable. "Peyton had an amazing night," Broncos coach John Fox said. "Peytons had a lot of amazing nights." Not like this, though. Manning is the sixth QB in NFL history to throw seven TD passes in a game and the first since Joe Kapp for Minnesota against Baltimore on Sept. 28, 1969. The others read like a Whos Who of passers who defied the 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust days long before the NFL became so pass-happy: Sid Luckman, Adrian Burk, George Blanda and Y.A. Tittle. Tom Brady never did it. Nor Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Steve Young or Terry Bradshaw. Or, for that matter, No. 7 himself, John Elway, who had his binoculars trained on the action from his perch in the luxury seats. "I felt like we had to keep scoring because Baltimore can score at any time," said Manning, who was 27 of 42 for 462 yards with no interceptions for an off-the-charts quarterback rating of 141.1. "Hes phenomenal. To continue to come out every year and put that kind of performance on for us, its amazing," Julius Thomas said. All part of a thorough thrashing of the team that put a harsh end to what had looked like a Super Bowl-bound 2012 in Denver. The rematch came nearly eight months after Baltimore beat Denver 38-35 in double overtime on an icy January night in the same stadium. The hero on that night was Jacoby Jones, who caught a 70-yard TD pass over Rahim Moore with 31 seconds left to tie it in regulation. This time, his night was cut short when he went back to field a punt in the first half and teammmate Brynden Trawick plowed into him, sending him to the sideline with a sprained right knee. Gareon Conley Jersey. "Thats an experience problem, hes an inexperienced guy," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. When the teams finally took the field after the long delay, it was clear how much had changed. Pass rusher Elvis Dumervil moved from Denver to Baltimore as part of a bizarre, fax-infused contract squabble. Receiver Brandon Stokley also switched sides. The Broncos lost their best defender, Von Miller, to a drug suspension while Baltimore had to rebuild its "D" after losing emotional leaders Ed Reed and Ray Lewis. The Ravens suffered another loss of sorts when they were forced to play the seasons traditional opener on the road because of a conflict with the Orioles in Baltimore. The NFL hung a Flacco banner above Denvers stadium, but he hardly felt at home. Armed with a new six-year, $120.6 million contract, he matched the Broncos score for score in the first half and went into the locker room up 17-14 but had to play catch-up after falling behind 35-17 early in the third quarter. His final numbers: 34 of 62 for 362 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. "It was a pretty good game for a while and it got away from us," Flacco said. It was such a runaway, the Broncos were throwing away touchdowns by the end. Linebacker Danny Trevathan fumbled his pick-6 just shy of the goal line, pulling a Leon Lett imitation by celebrating too soon and the ball bounced out of the end zone for a touchback instead of a touchdown. No worries. Denver was ahead 42-17 at that point. "It was just a young mistake," Trevathan said. "It was kind of selfish. Im going to take full responsibility. Im going to grow from it." Mannings seventh TD pass was a blitz-beater that Demaryius Thomas caught in the left flat and raced up the seam for a 78-yard score that capped Mannings big night. "It didnt seem like that many," Welker said. "Youre just sitting there like, That was seven? Because hes so nonchalant about it." Flacco could only marvel at Mannings seven TDs. "Thats a sweet way to start a season," Flacco said. "You get ahead throwing that many touchdowns. I mean, shoot, hes almost halfway to 20 already." Demaryius Thomas finished with five receptions for 161 yards, Julius Thomas had five catches for 110 yards and Welker led the way with nine grabs for 67 yards. Welker is the first receiver to catch TD passes from both Brady and Manning. He has said he cant compare the two pre-eminent QBs, saying thats like choosing between Michaelangelo and Picasso. This night was certainly a masterpiece for Manning. Notes: Broncos injuries: KR Trindon Holliday (lower left leg), Eric Decker (right shoulder) and S Omar Bolden (left shoulder). ... Ravens RT Michael Oher left with a sprained ankle. ... Shaun Phillips, who played in Millers place, had 2 1/2 sacks in his Denver debut. ... The Broncos were without CB Champ Bailey (foot), whos expected back in Week 2 when the Manning travels to New York to face his little brother, Eli. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

Notice I didnt say four "conference winners". Thats because the conferences cease to exist at this stage.3) The third round will feature Stanley Cup semi-final matchups that are determined, once again, by re-seeding the four remaining teams according to their regular-season points. Obviously, then, teams from different conferences could be playing each other in round three, and just as obviously, two teams from the same conference could be the semi-final winners.4) Voila! A Stanley Cup final that could bring together any two of the 30 NHL teams. The Stanley Cup final should be the NHLs best attraction. It has the built-in difficulty of June dates that make it too easy for hockey fans of 28 other teams to ignore the two that are still playing, especially when those two are not rivals in any other sense. So forgive me when I say that Los Angeles/New Jersey (2012) and Anaheim/Ottawa (2007) and Carolina/Edmonton (2006) were not what wed call "marquee matchups". Under a system that could put any two teams in the Stanley Cup final, such matchups could occur again. But they wouldnt occur as often if their odds of meeting were reduced by 50 per cent, and the introduction of odds allowing for an all-East or all-West Stanley Cup final would inject the playoffs with a difference that could be felt where it matters most—in the last series. If you like the idea, PASS IT ON! And she only wanted partners who would help her win trophies. It took a little time, but the 34-year-old Hingis is becoming a fixture in Grand Slam finals again. The Swiss star and her partner Leander Paes of India will play for the mixed doubles title at the Australian Open on Sunday against the team of Kristina Mladenovic of France and Daniel Nestor of Canada. Its the second straight Grand Slam final for Hingis — she played for the womens doubles title at the U.S. Open with Flavia Pennetta, but they lost to the Russian team of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.I think definitely when I go on court I want to win every time, Hingis said this week. Now I can pick and choose the tournaments that I want to play, I have the partners that I want to play with and I enjoy being out there on the court. Also, it helps feeling like we have the chance to win the tournament. She has more than a good chance to win with the 41-year-old Paes, a veteran doubles specialist with 14 Grand Slam titles — all in doubles and mixed doubles. The two had played mixed doubles in World Team Tennis together and joked around last year about giving it a go at the majjors. Mike Williams Jersey. .Normally its the guy who comes up and asks, but for somebody who talks a lot, Im kind of shy, Paes said.Hingis only wishes it hadnt taken them so long to join forces.I was saying even on the court, Hey, we maybe should have played 10 years ago, she said with a laugh.Of course, 10 years ago, Hingis wasnt playing. A Grand Slam champion and No. 1-ranked player at the age of 16, she abruptly retired six years later, citing recurring injuries. She returned to the tour in 2006, then retired again a year later after testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon. After six years away, however, she missed the competition and decided to return yet again — as a doubles specialist — in 2013.Now shes back in a final again at the Australian Open, where she made her Grand Slam debut 20 years ago. Shes also having fun, smiling and laughing easily on the court — something that didnt happen so frequently during her peak years. For Paes, winning the title on Sunday would give him yet another distinction in his long career: two major titles with Martinas. He captured the mixed doubles at the Australian Open in 2002 with Martina Navratilova. The trophies, we have plenty in our showcase. One more would be lovely, but it really doesnt make much of a difference, he said. Viewers in the Jets region can watch all the action on TSN Jets at 6:30pm ct/7:30pm et. The game is also available on TSN Radio 1290 in Winnipeg. The Jets have lost four of their last five games and fell to 1-1-1 on the four-game road trip after losing a 3-2 regulation decision Sunday at Colorado. Winnipeg led the contest by a 2-1 score after 40 minutes, but Jan Hejda and Paul Stastny scored third-period goals to lift the Avalanche to the home win. Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little scored for the Jets. Al Montoya made 33 saves but allowed all three goals in the setback. "He was great. He kept the score tight. We really didnt help him too much in the third period," Little said of Montoya. The Blues had won three straight in the series against the Jets before losing a 4-3 shootout decision on Oct. 18 in Winnipeg. The Jets erased a two-goal deficit in the third period and Olli Jokinen scored the decisive shootout goal to cap the come-from-behind win. Tuesdays contest will mark the first trip to St. Louis for the Jets since the franchise relocated from Atlanta prior to the 2011-12 season. The Blues were 4-1-1 in six all-time home tilts against the Atlanta Thrashers. The Blues will try to build off a strong performance in their last outing when they ended a two-game slide and won for just the second time in five games by pounding the Nashville Predators 6-1 on Saturday. It was the second- best offensive output of the season for St. Louis, which beat the Florida Panthers by a 7-0 score on Oct. 5. Alexander Steen scored a pair of goals to fuel the rout in Nashville. Steen already has 10 goals in nine games this season, giving him two more markers than he had in 40 games during last years lockout-shortened campaign. He enters Tuesday tied with Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals for the most goals in the NHL this season. "He feels like hes fresh on the ice and when youre fresh, youre confident," Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock said of Steen. "Thats how hes feeling right now." Jaden Schwartz, Alex Pietrangelo and T.J. Oshie each added a goal and an assist, while Derek Roy registered the other goal for the Blues, who have earned at least a point in four straight games, going 2-0-2 during that stretch. Jaroslav Halak stopped 22-of-23 shots to backstop the victory. Halak is expected to get the start again on Tuesday and is 4-2-0 with a 3.31 goals against average in six career games against the Jets. After hosting tonights contest against Winnipeg, the Blues will play their next three games on the road. St. Louis is 4-1-1 as the host this season and 2-0-1 on the road. Charles Harris Youth Jersey .The surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia.Letestu had three goals and two assists in nine games before being injured in late October. The 29-year-old has 54 goals and 65 assists in 273 career NHL games, including 39 goals and 51 assists in 188 games with the Blue Jackets. Raekwon McMillan Womens Jersey . -- The Minnesota Twins have granted relief pitcher Matt Guerrier his unconditional release, making the 35-year-old right-hander a free agent.Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The NFC playoffs will run through the Pacific Northwest for a second consecutive season. The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks used their patented defense, behind their rowdy crowd, to stifle the St. Louis Rams in a 20-6 win and wrap up the NFC West division in the process. The Seahawks (12-4), who ended the regular season on a six-game winning streak, clinched a first-round bye and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs by winning their seventh NFC West title in team history. Charles Harris Womens Jersey. Seattle has taken nine of its last 10 games overall since a loss at St. Louis (6-10) in Week 7, a game that the Rams returned a punt for a touchdown and also converted a gutsy fourth-down play in the closing minutes with punter Johnny Hekker. Russell Wilson threw for 239 yards with an interception and Marshawn Lynch rushed for a touchdown in the win. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are taking that first letter in CFL very seriously, naming Canadian Mike OShea as their new head coach on Wednesday. Eddie Vanderdoes Womens Jersey . He was recruited by former University of Guelph teammate and fellow Canadian Kyle Walters, Winnipegs new general manager. "Being Canadian is extremely important to me," OShea said after he was introduced as the teams 30th head coach. But he admitted his nationality hadnt really crossed his mind as he accepted his first head coaching job. He was special teams co-ordinator with the Toronto Argonauts, also his home for most of his 16 years in the league as a middle linebacker. "Do I think it can help in certain situations? Absolutely. . . I am an extremely proud Canadian." OShea succeeds Tim Burke, who was sacked after Winnipeg tied its worst record ever in the 18-game CFL this season at 3-15. Burke replaced Paul LaPolice in mid-2012 and no one has been able to hold the job for long in recent years. It was a point not lost on OShea, 43. How much time will he have to build a winner? "Thats one of the first questions I asked them," he said. "I wanted to find out what their commitment level was. They are committed to this town, this province, this organization and theyre committed to winning. To me it was an easy choice." Its been a busy week for the Bombers. On Tuesday they also named former quarterback Danny McManus and Ted Goveia as new assistant GMs to join Walters in rebuilding the team. Not that OShea likes to think of this as a rebuilding effort, which suggests a process that might take some time. He got a round of applause from the fans in the room when he made that clear. "I know what I believe and the only reason you start a season is to win a Grey Cup, so its my job as a coach (much clapping ensues) its my job as a coach to get people to buy into that." Not long removed from his playing days, some may see OShea as to young and inexperienced to take on the role of head coach. That notion was quickly refuted by Argonauts safety and special teams player Matt Black, who played under OShea for the past four seasons in Toronto. "These people that dont think OShea is qualified are sorely mistaken," Black posted on his Twitter account. "His players will sacrifice their bodies for him. Mark my words..." The Bombers havent won a Grey Cup since 1990, although their last appearance at the final isnt that long ago -- 2011. One of the remaining big pieces to put in place is a starting quarterback for 2014 but OShea wouldnt comment at all on any suggestion Zach Collaros might be a candidate. The Argos backup is under contract and off limits as such. OShea did say he was a great guy. The Argos are having a pre-Christmas sale it seems with defensive co-ordinator Chris Jones named head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos just last week. The Bombers have now pretty well cleaned house after the Joe Mack as GM era, replacing their president, general manager and coach. OShea, a native of North Bay, Ont., spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach with the Argonauts. He was part of four Grey Cup winning teams, three as a player (1996, 1997 and 2004) and his first as a coach in 2012, leading a stalwart special teams unit for the Argos. OShea also won the CFLs Most Outstanding Canadian award in 1999. He described the kind of team he hopes to put on the field next season. "If I were going to envision how were going to win games, its gong to be defence and special teams. Its going to be hard-nosed but disciplined football. Theyre going to be hard-working guys, character players. Were going to do it the old-fashioned way." Walters says like OShea, he wants the Bombers to become a team that wins consistently and the work starts right now. "Our No. 1 priority is to put a process in place that can ensure sustainable winning. And as Mike said you dont start the year with any other goal than winning the Grey Cup . . . and that will be our goal." Several key members of the Argos took to Twitter to wish their former coach well in Manitobas capital. "Just found out that our Special Teams Ace is moving on and up!" posted star receiver and kick returner Chad Owens. "Proud and Blessed to have battled for you Osh! Def wont be the same!" Added receiver Andre Durie: "It has been a true honour to have played with and Developed under Coach OShea ...wish him all the best in the Peg....except against us." Obi Melifonwu Raiders Jersey . There was little fanfare, though, when the Yankees captain was taken out of his final regular-season Subway Series game in the eighth inning. Jeter watched the last four outs from the bench, pulled off the field during a double switch Thursday night as the Yankees held off the Mets 1-0. Gareon Conley Womens Jersey . The Rainbow FlickNext up is the Rainbow Flick, or as you probably know it, the trick that everybody at soccer camp thought they knew how to do. GLASGOW -- Ryan Cochrane was supposed to have a down year. The decorated Canadian swimmer was focused on graduating from university before ramping things up again for next summers Pan American Games ahead of what will be his final Olympics in 2016. Instead, Cochrane is back where he always seems to be. The 25-year-old put in a dominating performance in the final of the mens 1,500-metre freestyle at the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday for his second gold medal in Scotland. "Its funny how quickly you can get talked into things," said Cochrane, who also won the 400-metre freestyle on Thursday. "I said that school was my focus this year, but with that said I like the balance of being able to work at my academics as well as in the pool. "I think it put things really into perspective. I was able to enjoy both processes and not get overwhelmed." It was the competition that was overwhelmed on this night as the Victoria native raced to a time of 14 minutes 44.03 seconds on what was Canadas best day at the Games. With his legs and arms churning towards his countrys fourth gold medal in the pool, Cochrane ignored the fatigue and powered through with the knowledge it would be his final race on this stage. "When it started to get hard at about 1,200 metres I kept telling myself, This is one of your last chances to have a kick at this race," said Cochrane. "It can be really hard and it can be shocking when you can count down the races you have left, but with that being said I think I used it to my benefit." Cochranes performance repeated his double-gold performance from the Commonwealth Games four years ago in New Delhi, and was one of a number of impressive performances on Tuesday as Canada rose from sixth to third in the overall standings with 39 medals (16 gold, five silver and 18 bronze). The day started with a 1-2 finish in womens cross-country mountain biking. Catharine Pendrel of Kamloops, B.C., led from the opening lap and didnt look back, finishing 70 seconds ahead of Emily Batty of Brooklin, Ont. In womens wrestling, Erica Wiebe of Stittsville, Ont., won gold in the 75-kilogram division and Korey Jarvis of Elliot Lake, Ont., won gold in the mens wrestling 125-kilo division. Jasmine Mian of Barrie, Ont., added bronze in the 48-kilo category. At the track, Damian Warner of London, Ont., won gold in the decathlon, James Steacy of Lethbridge, Alta., won gold in the hammer throw and Kate Van Buskirk of Brampton, Ont., took bronze in the womens 1,500 metres. Meanwhile, weightlifter Marie-Eve Beauchemin-Nadeau of Montreal won gold in the 75-kilo category and Jim Paton of White Rock, B.C., won silver in the fullbore individual shooting event. In mens artistic gymnastics, the team of Zachary Clay of Chilliwack, B.C., Calgarys Nathan Gafuik, Anderson Loran of Saskatoon, Kevin Lytwyn of Stoney Creek, Ont., and Scott Morgan of North Vancouver, B.C., took the bronzze. Marshawn Lynch Jersey. . Apart from Cochranes success in the pool, the womens 4x100-metre medley relay team won a bronze, as did Calgarys Brooklyn Snodgrass in the womens 50-metre backstroke, and Montreals Aurelie Rivard in the womens para-sport 200-metre individual medley S10. Cochrane was never threatened in his final, finishing 4.73 seconds ahead of Australias Mack Horton and bettering Daniel Jervis of Wales by 11.30. He won both the 400- and 1,500-metre freestyle events at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, but said before heading off to Glasgow that a repeat would be difficult at Tollcross International Swimming Centre. In the end, it wasnt. "The consistency is always wanting to be the best in the world," said Cochrane, who has won bronze and silver in the 1,500 at the Olympics. "Ive been chasing that dream for a lot of years and Ive been really proud of my results here to show that I can keep getting better even in my mid-20s." As Cochrane focused on his studies at the University of Victoria -- he graduated this spring with a degree in psychology -- he also decided to try new training techniques, including spending less time in the pool. The results in Glasgow speak for themselves. "We could have kept doing what weve done for the past six to eight years and it would have been good and we would have got the results we wanted, but maybe not quite the next step," said Cochrane. "My times are a little bit faster or similar to where Ive been, but it was such better racing. Im going to take that as a huge benefit going into the next two years." Snodgrass snatched the bronze in the womens 50-metre backstroke with a time of 27.97 second for her first Commonwealth Games medal. "It was really exciting. I felt really good in warmup so I knew I was going to have a good 50," said the 20-year-old Canadian. "I didnt know where that was going to place me, but Im more than happy with the result. "I just wanted to come here and swim fast for my country and I wanted to learn as much as possible." In the womens para-sport 200-metre individual medley S10, Rivard was third in 2:32.09. "I feel pretty great. That was my goal, to stand on the podium," said the 18-year-old, who has a disability in her left hand. "Im happy with my time and with my race. It gives me confidence for the future." Canada capped the final day of swimming at the Games nicely when Tera van Beilen of Oakville, Ont., Sinead Russell of Burlington, Ont., Katerine Savard of Pont-Rouge, Que., and Sandrine Mainville of Boucherville, Que., finished third in the womens 4x100-metre relay in 4:03.57. Canada finished with 11 overall medals in the pool, including four gold, one silver and six bronze. "Our goal was to get a medal and we did that," said van Beilen. "It was just a great way to end off an amazing meet for Canada." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys AuthenticWholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

The World Series is almost upon us. Derek Rivers Womens Jersey . Its ironic that two of the oldest and most iconic teams have been taken to the Fall Classic by two men who are there for the first time in their careers and both of whom are relatively light in Major League managerial experience. St. Louis Cardinals skipper Mike Matheny is in his second year with St. Louis after succeeding Tony LaRussa after the Cardinals won the 2011 World Series. This was Mathenys first managerial job, period. John Farrell managed the Toronto Blue Jays for two years before getting "traded" to the Boston Red Sox this past off-season and this is only his third year managing in the Bigs. Only four rookie managers have ever won a World Series, while six more won in their first full-season at the helm of a team. The last rookie to turn the trick was former Blue Jays catcher Bob Brenly in 2001 when the Arizona Diamondbacks won their first and only World Series in that classic match-up with the New York Yankees. The other are "the Major," Ralph Houk, who led the 1961 Yankees to a Series win over the Cincinatti Reds, Eddie Dyer, who was at the helm of the 1946 Cardinals when they beat the Red Sox in seven games and Bucky Harris, who lead the 1924 Washington Senators to their one and only World Series title. Harris was only 27-years-old when he took over as player manager that season and won two more pennants over his 29 years as an MLB skipper and led the Yankees to a title in 1947. Of those four, Harris was the only one to make it into the Hall of Fame at Cooperstown. The group of six who won in their first full season as a skipper includes four Hall of Famers and one that in my mind should be. In 1920, Tris Speaker led the Cleveland Indians to their first World Series crown as a player-manager. Rogers Hornsby did the same for St. Louis in 1926, also as a player-manager. Legendary slugger Bill Terry, the last National Leaguer to hit .400, won as a player-manager with the New York Giants. Frankie Frisch also won as a player-manager with St. Louis in 1934. These four men refute the old argument that great players have a tough time becoming coaches or managers. The other two on that list are Dallas Green of the 1980 Phillies, who was really more regarded over the years as a general manager. The final name is that of Tom Kelly, who won two World Series with the Twins in 1987 and 1991. Why he isnt in the Hall of Fame is beyond me. This is the fourth meeting between the Cardinals and Red Sox in the World Series. In 1946 and again in 1967 (the Red Sox Impossible Dream Season,) St. Louis won in 7. But all of that was erased from memory by Red Sox fans when the BoSox ended their 86 year-long World Series drought by sweeping the Cardinals in 2004. This is the Cardinals fourth World Series appearance in 10 seasons (they own a 2-1 record in the previous three) and the Red Soxs third in the same decade (they won their previous two.) So essentially, this is for the bragging rights for best team since the start of the new millennium. Bob Elliot of the Toronto Sun has word that the Blue Jays are on the lookout for a catching upgrade are aiming for either Chris Iannetta or Hank Conger of the Los Angeles Angels in a trade. Clearly, since theyre not going to get into a bidding war for the likes of free agent-to-be Brian McCann, it shouldnt be any surprise that the Blue Jays would go back to the Mike Scioscia school of Catcher-nomics. Over the past six or seven years, the Blue Jays have employed, or at least briefly owned, four other Angels catchers who learned at the knee of Scoscia. Benji and Jose Molina were with the Angels when they beat the Giants in the 2002 World Series. Mike Napoli was acquired in the Vernon Wells trade and then was swapped four days later to the Texas Rangers for reliever Frank Francisco and cash and Jeff Mathis, who the Jays traded to Miami as part of that massive trade with the Marlins. Iannetta and Conger wouldnt hit for any more power than J.P Arencibia, but both are considered superior defensively. Derek Rivers Patriots Jersey . This game was inside. Adrian Peterson was missing. The stage was set for another step toward the playoffs. Derek Rivers Youth Jersey . "Weve given ourselves now a tougher task," said Carlyle after the Friday practice, the Toronto head coach notably chipper and upbeat throughout. "But the bottom line is we just have to win our share of games [and] not worry about what anybody else is doing. CEDAR PARK, Texas -- With a two-goal lead early in the second period, Toronto Marlies coach Steve Spott knew the Texas Stars would make a surge in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. Unfortunately for Toronto, that surge was too much to handle as the Stars scored six straight goals and ended the Marlies season with a 6-2 victory on Tuesday. Toronto had built a 2-0 lead on goals by Frazer McLaren and Peter Holland, but Texas charged back with a wild rally late in the second period to spark its trip to the Calder Cup final. "Two mistakes, first we made a bad line change then we took a bad penalty 200-feet from Drew (MacIntyre), and all of sudden its 2-2," Spott said. "Theyre a good team, give them credit, but we made some bad mistakes." After killing off a hooking penalty by Patrik Nemeth, Texas scored on its 26th shot of the game when Mike Hedden tipped home a pass from Ritchie with 2:38 left in the period. Less than a minute later Texas tied the game when Jeffrey scored on the power play. It gave Texas goals on back-to-back shots after Drew MacIntyre had stopped the first 25. Tied 2-2 after the second period, Brett Ritchie and Matej Stransky scored 17 seconds apart to give the Stars a 4-2 lead. Justin Dowling gave the Stars another insurance goal with 5:28 remaining, while Dustin Jeffrey scored his second goal of the night into an empty net. It was Dowlings first game of the series after suffering an arm injury against the Grand Rapids Griffins in Game 5 of the second round. Antonio Garcia Womens Jersey. . Reunited on a line with Hedden and Ritchie, he was on the ice for four of the Stars goals. "I wasnt expecting to play tonight," Dowling said. "Things kind of just unfolded how they did. I benefited a lot from going to Dallas and getting their treatment from their guys up there a Im very grateful to be back." MacIntyre stopped 44-of-49 shots for Toronto and was under siege for most of the night. Cristopher Nilstorp stopped 24-of-26 shots for Texas. His biggest stop came midway through the second period when he stopped Brandon Kozun with the left pad, turning away a flurry by the Marlies and allowed Texas to tie the game later in the frame. "Oh, that was a big save," Stars coach Willie Desjardins. "I thought that was going (in). He made some real good saves a Nilstorp was real solid throughout the series and there were a couple games where he stopped it from getting away on us." Before jostling with the Stars for seven games, the Marlies had rolled through the first two rounds of the playoffs. After the loss on Tuesday, Spott took a moment to look at the future for his young team. "Next year our plan is to take this another step farther," Spott said. "The frustrating thing is we were in a good spot here tonight up 2-0. We just had a couple mental mistakes that cost us." Texas will play the St. Johns IceCaps in the Calder Cup final. Game 1 will be Sunday night in Texas. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

Mason gets the Flyers to even, Toews lifts the Blackhawks to another OT win and Getzlafs return helps Ducks pull away from the Stars. Zach Banner Colts Jersey . Also, notes on Richards, Leddy, Horcoff and more. FREE MASON Steve Mason, making his first start of the playoffs, stopped 37 of 38 New York Rangers shots to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 2-1 win in Game Four, evening the series at two games apiece. It was the first postseason win in six career playoff appearances for Mason, who last started April 12 when he suffered an upper-body injury. The Flyers defence had some possession extremes. The pairing of Braydon Coburn and Kimmo Timonen were on for better than two-thirds of the 5-on-5 shot attempts, while the duo of Andrew MacDonald and Luke Schenn were at the other end of the spectrum. Rangers C Brad Richards had all kinds of opportunities, generating a playoff-high 14 shot attempts, but their only goal was scored by Dominic Moore early in the first period. Flyers D Nicklas Grossman was forced to leave early after suffering a lower-body injury. If hes not able to get back in the lineup for Game Five, then Erik Gustafsson or Hal Gill will be available to join the lineup. Now that the series is even, the goaltending battle between Mason and Henrik Lundqvist will be in the spotlight. That figures to be an advantage for the Rangers, but it wasnt in Game Four. CAPTAIN SERIOUS WITH THE WINNER After Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane pulled the trigger on the overtime winner in Game Four, Blackhawks C Jonathan Toews managed the feat, with a backhand deke on a breakaway to win the game in OT. Blackhawks RW Marian Hossa had a strong game, scoring his first goal of the series and registering a game-high seven shots on goal. Blues C David Backes, who missed the past two games with a concussion, returned to the St. Louis lineup and had a game-high eight hits in 21:35 of ice time. Blackhawks D Brent Seabrook, suspended three games for knocking out Backes, is due to return for Game Six. His replacement, Sheldon Brookbank, has chipped in a couple of assists in three games, but has struggled in terms of puck possession. Over the past two games, Blackhawks D Nick Leddy has been on for 41 shot attempts for and 12 against (77.4%) at 5-on-5. 61.8% for the series. In a series that is so close that there is a five shot attempt difference between the teams at even strength, Leddys doing his part to win his matchups. Losing back-to-back overtime games is tough for the Blues, who now have to find a way to win back-to-back games, starting with Game Six in Chicago. DUCKS TAKE FLIGHT The Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks were engaged in a competitive game, with the Ducks holding a one-goal lead entering the third period, before the Ducks broke the game open with three goals in the first seven minutes of the third period, wrapping up a 6-2 in in Game Five.  The big news for the Ducks was that C Ryan Getzlaf returned to the lineup, after missing Game Four, and recorded a goal and two assists to lead the way. Getzlafs linemate, Corey Perry, also contributed a goal and two assists. Ducks G Frederik Andersen, who was pulled from Game Four, responded with a strong effort, stopping 34 of 36 shots by the Stars. At the other end, Stars G Kari Lehtonen was pulled after surrendering five goals on 21 shots, giving way to Tim Thomas, who stopped one of the two shots he faced in the final 14:38 of the third period. Stars D Brenden Dillon appeared in his first game in two weeks and played 20:18, but he struggled at times, and finished with Dallas worst possession stats for the game. One positive to take from the game for Dallas is that LW Jamie Benn was a force, scoring a shorthanded goal and creating a bunch of chances. Also, C Tyler Seguin was firing shots as the Stars attempted to come back, finishing with 13 shot attempts, eight of which ended up on net. Through the first five games Benn, with five points, is tied with veteran C Shawn Horcoff for the Stars playoff scoring lead. For Anaheim, its Getzlaf, who has seven points in four games in this series. The Stars have lost some lopsided games in the series, but have solid enough possession stats to feel like they are still in this series. If they can hold serve at home in Game Six, that will set up an interesting winner-take-all matchup in Game Seven. Off-Season Game Plan looks at what the Blue Jackets may do to build upon last seasons success to return to the playoffs again next year.TORONTO -- Harry Redknapp got a rude shock after taking over Queens Park Rangers in November 2012. The team was in last place in the English Premier League, its roster filled with bloated contracts and egos. "The attitude stank. Attitude towards the game, attitude towards training," he wrote in his autobiography "Always Managing." "I cant remember a worse one -- and behaviour like that cannot be altered overnight." Redknapp, however, found one kindred spirit. "Within weeks I had worked out that my best player was Ryan Nelsen, a 35-year-old New Zealand international -- and he couldnt wait to get out," Redknapp wrote. "`Youve got no chance, he told me. Not a prayer. This is the worst dressing room Ive ever been in in my life. You havent got a hope with this lot. I dont know how you solve it." Today, Nelsen is in his second season as manager of Toronto FC. He recalls his season with QPR -- his finale as a player -- as a ringside seat on what happens when a dressing room goes wrong. "It was an amazing learning experience for me," he said in an interview this week. Redknapp, whose team was relegated at the end of the 2012-13 season, is on the verge of taking QPR back to the Premier League after one season in the Championship. QPR faces Derby Country on Saturday at Wembley in a promotion playoff worth up to 120 million pounds (C$220.5 million), mostly from broadcast rights, according to a 2013 report by the Sports Business Group at Deloitte. With reported debts of 177 million pounds (C$325 million), Queens Park Rangers could do with hitting the promotion jackpot despite the deep pockets of millionaire owner Tony Fernandes. Among the things Nelsen learned at QPR was the need to get recruitment right, to watch wages and that a good football team needs chemistry off the field as well as organization in it. "It was an environment that probably players were getting paid too much for potentially their mentality to win," he said of QPR. "Young guys probably on too much before they had earned it." There were also older players who might have lost their fire. And second-tier Championship players who had the character desire but perhaps not the talent needed. "Everybody tried their best to get the mixture right, but it just didnt jell," said Nelsen. "It was just wrong." The ill-fated QPR spending spree was funded by Fernandes, a British-Malaysian businessman whose net worth as of February was valued at US$650 million according to Forbes magazine. He took over in August 2011, almost a year before Nelsen came on board. The New Zealand international didnt expect to play much at QPR, thinking his job would be to help then-manager Mark Hughes and successor Redknapp off the pitch. He ended up playing 21 league matches, becoming captain and turning into a fan favouriite before leaving in January 2103 to take over Toronto FC.Malik Hooker Youth Jersey. Nelsen points no fingers today, saying the intentions of Hughes and Fernandes "were so right for the club to do really well." The rot had set in too much by the time Redknapp took over. "There had to be a clearout before you could get it back again," he said. There are more fashionable soccer teams in London but Loftus Road, QPRs home in Shepherds Bush, has seen its share of players with flair in Rodney Marsh, Stan Bowles and Gerry Francis in the 1960s and 70s. A blue-collar club, QPR won the League Cup in 1966-67 and was runner-up in 1985-86. It was also runner-up in the FA Cup in 1981-82 and was runner-up in the First Division, precursor to the Premier League, in 1975-76. Celebrity QPR fans included musicians Phil Collins, Pete Doherty and composer Michael Nyman. A no-nonsense defender at the end of his playing career, Nelsens work ethic appealed to the QPR fans tired of rental players on big salaries. "I think they just liked that I worked hard and tried to win games," said Nelsen. "People respected that." Nelsen loved the QPR supporters right back. "But it wasnt right off the field," he said of the team. "And that weighed heavily on me because I was kind of brought in to help that out." QPR was relegated several months after Nelsens departure to Canada. According to the Daily Mail, the clubs wage bill was higher than that of Spanish champion and Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid. Toronto benefited from the subsequent clearout, with Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar coming to MLS on a loan agreement. Loic Remy (Newcastle) and Adel Taarabt (AC Milan) were also sent out on loan. Cesar, whose attitude has earned nothing but praise from Toronto coaches and players, says QPR wants him back in August. The team will have to reload if it returns to the Premier League. Redknapp, a master wheeler and dealer, brought in hardened veterans of the Championship to help climb back up the mountain. "He invested really wisely," said Nelsen. "He moved guys that probably had big value. And in saying that, their value has probably increased." Nelsen will be watching closely this weekend. "Ive got a lot of friends on that QPR team," he said. In addition to the big-time Charlies, he remembers of group of honest players desperate to succeed. "And QPR had them. They probably got outnumbered bit a little at the end but those guys, you wish them the best so badly. and for Harry as well, because at his age (now 67) he probably could have gone off and retired somewhere. But he knuckled down in the Championship and you wish them all the success. "All of his coaching staff were fantastic when I was there. And theyve helped me since Ive been here, to tell you the truth." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

With the European transfer window opening up again on January 1, TSN. Deshaun Watson Youth Jersey .ca takes a daily look around the soccer world at the latest rumours and reports heading into what is sure to be another busy period of transactions. Fab-ulous Signing? Steven Gerrard is out of contract at the end of the season and will be 35 in May. Whether or not the team or player wants to admit it, Gerrards time at Anfield will be over sooner, rather than later. To replace his iconic talisman, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could look to another player out of contract in the summer in Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph. The Daily Mail reports that the Reds are looking to bring in the England international, but might have to wait until the summer to do so. Delph would want assurances of first-team football, something that Rodgers might be unable to guarantee at this time. Liverpool can expect competition from Spurs for the former Leeds mans services. Diego-ing Nowhere? In-demand centre-back Diego Godin doesnt look to be leaving Spanish champions Atletico Madrid any time soon. With reports of interest from the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City, the 28-year-old Uruguay international has no intentions of heading to England in the near future. Time will tell, it is difficult to know where I will be playing in the future but I would like to stay many years with Atletico, Godin tells the Daily Express. At this point, I feel that Im in the best time of my career and I see my retirement as a long way off. While Godin might wish to stay with the Champions League runners-up, it is believed that there is a £28.5 million release clause in his contract. If United fail to pursuade Godin to leave Spain, Valencias Argentine international Nicolas Otamendi could be an alternative target. No Mans Land? Hatem Ben Arfas future is very much up in the air. Hull City manager Steve Bruce confirmed on Thursday that the Tigers were in the process of cancelling the French international midfielders season-long loan. Im disappointed more than anything, Bruce told the BBC. We brought him in on a wave of publicity and there has been no fall-out or slanging match. His views of the game are different to mine. At any club you need to have a certain work ethic to get in the team. Thats the frustrating thing. The 27-year-old has appeared nine times for Hull this season and hasnt found the net. The problem for Ben Arfa is that parent club Newcastle doesnt seem to have any desire in bringing back to St. James Park, either. He wont be coming back here, thats all I can say, said Toon boss Alan Pardew of a potential return. Ben Arfa is in his fifth season in England after coming over from Marseille in 2010. Deshaun Watson Jersey . -- Fantasy football owners and Denver Broncos fans can rest easy: Peyton Manning is back. Zach Cunningham Womens Jersey .com) - The Oklahoma City Thunder will try to get back on track Monday night when they welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to Chesapeake Energy Arena.NEW ORLEANS - Injuries and illness across New Orleans roster provided Daruis Miller a chance to play extended minutes with his old Kentucky teammate, Anthony Davis. They did a lot of winning together in college, and Wednesday nights game against an NBA playoff contender was no different. Davis had 16 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks while Miller capped a 16-point outing with a pair of clutch jumpers, and the under-manned Pelicans won their fourth straight, 98-96 over the Los Angeles Clippers. "I just knew I had an opportunity. I wanted to come out and play aggressively," said Miller, whose nearly 29 minutes of action were more than double his season average of 11.8. "I just so happened to have a good game. I think everybody did, though. Everybody stepped up and thats the reason why we won." Millers 3 made it 95-90, and his 16-foot jumper coming off a screen to the left of the foul line gave the Pelicans a 97-92 lead with 47 seconds left. Anthony Morrow, also playing extended minutes, scored 27 points, while reserve centre Alexis Ajinca added 14 points and 11 rebounds. "We beat a team thats got a chance to win a title," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "I cant say enough about our group. It felt like a playoff game in there tonight." Jamal Crawford scored 31 for the Clippers, but narrowly missed a couple late 3-point attempts, including one as time expired that could have won it. "We didnt execute the play," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said of the final seconds. "But the game didnt come down to the final play. I really thought (New Orleans) deserved to win. "If we had won, I would have taken it, but sometimes the basketball gods punish you for messing around and I though thats what we did." Former New Orleans star Chris Paul had 12 assists, but set a Clippers record for shooting futility by missing all 12 of his attempts from the field. His only points came on two foul shots. "If I go 0 for 15 or 0 for 20 and we win, I could care less," said Paul, whose team had won nine of its previous 10 games to get within striking distance of the second playoff seed in the Western Conference. "Its more than this game. Its about playing the righht way going into the playoffs. D Onta Foreman Jersey. quot; Blake Griffin had 21 points, including a late off-balance floater as he was fouled with 10.5 seconds left. But he missed the following free throw that could have tied it. Davis rebounded the miss, but clanked a free throw on the other end, giving Los Angeles one more chance to tie or win. Davis scored 10 of his points in the second half, including a two-handed dunk in which he sprung toward the hoop from right side of the lane too quickly for DeAndre Jordan to respond. Davis also took on Griffin with confidence, rising over him to score on one end and alter his shots on the other. "AD wanted to prove that he and Blake are on the same level," Williams said. Jordan had 11 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, but lamented, "We didnt play defence in the first half. We gave them a lot of confidence and when that happens its hard to turn guys off." Pelicans guard Eric Gordon missed his third straight game with left knee tendinitis, while point guards Brian Roberts (bruised left knee) and Austin Rivers (upper respiratory infection) were also out. That forced Williams to start shooting guard Tyreke Evans at point guard, with Miller, normally a small forward, also playing some minutes at guard. Evans finished with 10 points and nine assists. "Its like MASH unit," Williams said. "Were sitting there looking at the guys go through warm-ups this morning and it didnt look good. So we brought the guys together and just talked to them about, Just compete at a high level." New Orleans managed to keep pace with Los Angeles in part because Paul kept missing and didnt score until hitting two free throws with 2:52 left in the third quarter. "Chris started pressing a little bit," Rivers said. "He was trying to get going, which you want him to do. Just keep doing it in the realm of the offence." Notes: The Clippers went 13 of 30 from 3-point range. They won the previous 33 games in which theyd made at least nine 3s. ... The Pelicans victory was their first over the Clippers in four games this season. They wont meet again. ... New Orleans reached 10 blocks in a game for the 10th time this season, most in the NBA. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ChinaCheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
