Denver has completely overhauled their offense with the last two draftsPhoto by Lachlan Cunningham/Getty ImagesA little over a year ago, heading into the 2018 draft, Denver’s offensive skill players looked like this:QB1 - Case Keenum (freshly signed)QB2 - Paxton Lynch/Chad KellyRB - C.J. AndersonRB - Devontae BookerWR - Emmanuel SandersWR - Demaryius ThomasWR - Jordan TaylorTE - Jeff HeuermanTE - Jake ButtOnly three of those players now remain on the team, and only one of them is likely to get a majority of snaps this year. Over the next few days, Denver drafted Courtland Sutton, Royce Freeman, DaeSean Hamilton, and signed Philip Lindsay as a CFA bringing in an overdue infusion of youth to the offense. This year, the Broncos continued the offensive rebuild by first bringing in new offensive coordinator Max Garcia Color Rush Jersey , Rich Scangarello, who will be implementing a new system in the mold of his mentor Kyle Shanahan. The draft haul of Noah Fant, Dalton Risner, and Drew Lock from a few weeks ago combined with free agent additions of Joe Flacco and Ja’Wuan James now has Denver likely fielding at least seven new starters on offense from the pre-draft 2018 roster, with four of them being added this year along with a brand new system.Heading into rookie mini-camp, Denver’s offense now looks like:QB1 - Joe Flacco (acquired ‘19)QB2 - Drew Lock (acquired ‘19)RB - Phillip Lindsay (acquired ‘18)RB - Royce Freeman (acquired ‘18)WR - Emmanuel SandersWR - Courtland Sutton (acquired ‘18)WR - DaeSean Hamilton (acquired ‘18)TE - Noah Fant (acquired ‘19)TE - Jeff HeuermanLT - Garett BollesLG - Dalton Risner (acquired ‘19)C - Connor McGovernRG - Ronald LearyRT - Ja’Wuan James (acquired ‘19)That’s nine significant players on offense who have been acquired in a little over the last calendar year. The first big takeaway here is, while there is a lot of excitement around Denver’s new offense, don’t be surprised if it takes a little bit for everyone to gel with that much newness on that side of the ball. The other, and more important, takeaway is we could look back in a few years at the 2018 and 2019 drafts as the turning point for Denver as a franchise, as they have completely overhauled their perennially underperforming offense. I’m excited to see these guys get to work and begin shaping the new-look offense. Pay attention Broncos Country Bradley Chubb Jersey , you’re watching the future unfold before our eyes. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsSu’a Cravens came to the Denver Broncos last offseason via a trade with Washington that was rumored all offseason, and then finally happened. He has been a player that has received a lot of attention and there was excitement when he was brought in, that he could carve out a nice role here defending running backs and tight ends. Unfortunately, like much of Cravens’ career so far, he didn’t live up to the, perhaps too lofty expectations Broncos Country had for him.Cravens continued to struggle with injuries last year, and only was active for five games, playing 10% of the total defensive snaps in 2018. When he was active, Cravens played anywhere from 20% - 50% of the snaps on defense - mostly being brought in for sub-packages.The GoodI really liked Cravens coming to Denver and broke down some of his film when he was first acquired. I saw some of those same traits in 2018, although he was used infrequently. When he was on the field https://www.broncosfanstore.com/Andy-Janovich-Jersey , Cravens played well and showed good play recognition, run support, and was rarely out of position. The key benefit he brings is the ability to fill that box safety/dime linebacker role and add coverage ability while still protecting against the run in sub-packages. He still looked to have his speed and change of direction as well, so that’s a positive sign, considering his injury issues. The BadFirst of all, Cravens needs to be able to stay available. I know there were some rumblings that he found himself in Vance Joseph’s doghouse, and several players indicated that Joseph wasn’t always playing the best players, Cravens being one of those, but he still missed several games due to injury again.I have still yet to see Cravens play a true safety position since his freshman year in college. So far in the NFL, Cravens has essentially played linebacker, with linebacker responsibilities. Vic Fangio and Donatell have made it very clear that if Cravens is going to make this team Matt Paradis Color Rush Jersey , it’s going to be as a full-blown safety. They have a history of developing DBs, so anything is possible, but this is a major concern, especially in a system that asks a lot of its safeties.QuotableVic FangioDC Ed Donatell on the role that S Su’a Cravens will play this seasonOn Cravens’ enthusiasm during this learning processShelby HarrisSu’a Craven’s roster status with the BroncosAlthough I am a Cravens fan and am rooting for him, I’m not sure he makes it onto the final 53. Under a new defense that requires their safeties to be interchangeable and routinely handle deep responsibilities, the realist in me just doesn’t see Cravens making it. I hope he proves me wrong and is able to transition from a linebacker to a safety, but it will be a big leap.
