Its the day before the Fourth of July, but Drew Brees holiday celebration is well underway. http://www.jetsrookiestore.com/Jets-Quincy-Enunwa-Jersey/ .Looks like a lot of fun, but we dont blame New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton for being a little concerned -- or at least feigning concern. http://www.jetsrookiestore.com/Jets-James-Carpenter-Jersey/ .S. -- Nikolaj Ehlers registered a hat trick for the third straight game and Jonathan Drouin had a goal and five assists as the Halifax Mooseheads hammered the host Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 10-1 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. http://www.jetsrookiestore.com/Jets-Wayne-Chrebet-Jersey/ . The No. 1-ranked Nadal tweaked his back warming up for the Australian Open final, which he lost almost four weeks ago in a major upset against Stanislas Wawrinka. His first stop after the layoff is the clay in Rio as he tests the back and tries to stay healthy for the French Open in three months. http://www.jetsrookiestore.com/Jets-Julian-Howsare-Jersey/ . -- Jacksonville wide receiver Cecil Shorts will likely be a game-time decision whether hell play Sunday in the Jaguars home game against the San Diego Chargers. Nobody does postseasons better than Madison Bumgarner, but Mets ace Noah Syndergaard is certainly no slouch. With two of the premier pitchers in baseball dueling, Wednesdays NL wild-card showdown (8 p.m. ET on ESPN/Watch ESPN) could be one for the ages.Go inside the numbers and matchups that will decide Wednesday nights game, then vote on which team will win at the bottom of the page.Inside the pitching matchupWhen Bumgarner?is on the mound:?One thing we know about Bumgarner is that hell be unflappable on the mound at Citi Field. He owns a 0.60 ERA on the road in his postseason career while appearing in seven games. Remarkably, the Giants won all seven of those games.Bumgarner is essentially the same pitcher he was back when he dominated the 2014 postseason. He throws his four-seamer up in the zone, usually middle-in to right-handed batters, though it wasnt quite as effective this year as in the past. Back in 2014, batters had a .275 wOBA against it; this year, it was .323, with a swing-and-miss rate that dropped from 27.6 percent in 2014 to 22.4 percent in 2016. Bumgarners average velocity on the pitch dropped from 92.0 mph to 90.8.His cutter/slider -- Bumgarner calls it a cutter -- remains a deadly weapon, as batters hit .221 against it and have trouble elevating it. What makes it so effective in part is that Bumgarner manipulates the speed on it, throwing it from 85 to 89 mph. Bumgarners third pitch is a curveball that he throws about 15 percent of the time, about equally to lefties and righties, often with two strikes, and hell bury it at the knees or below. Batters hit just .130 against it, with a strikeout rate of 51.6 percent. If theres one worry, its that Bumgarner struggled a bit down the stretch, unlike in 2014, when he was red hot. In his final nine starts this season, he posted a 4.66 ERA and allowed eight home runs. -- David SchoenfieldWhen Syndergaard?is on the mound: Syndergaard stormed out of the gate in April, allowing two runs in his first three starts, and his ERA remained under 1.00 as late as mid-June. Terry Collins was pretty conservative in his usage of Syndergaard, who pitched more than seven innings just three times and 43 fewer innings than Bumgarner.Syndergaards game revolves around his high-octane fastball, which averaged 97.9 mph, the highest velocity by any starter in the majors (1.9 mph faster than Yordano Venturas). He throws it about 60 percent of the time with command, on the outer half of the plate to left-handers and the outer half of the plate to righties. The fastball itself isnt all that unhittable -- batters hit .283/.327/.411 against it, and Bumgarner had a higher swing-and-miss rate with his fastball -- but it helps set up Syndergaards slider. That pitch had the third-highest swing-and-miss rate of any starters slider (behind only those of Jose Fernandez and Max Scherzer), and batters hit .167 against it with one home run in 180 at-bats ending with the pitch (Corey Seager was the hitter).Syndergaard throws the slider about 21 percent of the time ((he threw it only 2 percent of the time last year) while also mixing in a curveball and a changeup, which he throws primarily to lefties. http://www.jetsrookiestore.com/Customized/. . Syndergaard had a small platoon split, with lefties hitting .262/.324/.389 against him versus .228/.258/.322, and the Giants can roll out a lineup with six left-handed batters. -- SchoenfieldPlayer in the spotlightAsdrubal Cabrera has been one of the hottest hitters in the majors since his return from the DL on Aug. 21, hitting .343/.410/.650 with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs. Almost all of that damage came against right-handed pitchers, however, as the switch-hitter had just 18 PAs against southpaws in that stretch. With much of the Mets power coming from the left side (Curtis Granderson, Jay Bruce, Lucas Duda), Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes might be relied upon to do the damage.?-- SchoenfieldWhat will decide the game? How the Mets handle MadBums best stuff:?Bumgarner is well known for his nasty fastball/slider combo. He throws those two pitches 81 percent of the time to right-handed hitters. That plays into the hands of two of the Mets most prominent hitters, who had great numbers against those two pitches from lefties -- Asdrubal Cabrera (.375 BA, five doubles, two HR in 80 at-bats ending with those pitches) and Yoenis Cespedes (.370 BA, five doubles, five HR in 54 at-bats). Cespedes had the fourth-highest OPS (1.081) of anyone with at least 100 plate appearances against lefties this season. -- Mark Simon,?ESPN Stats & InfoChoosing sides: Who will win?Sure, the Mets have a challenge facing Bumgarner. But they have a tested answer in Syndergaard, who finished the regular season with a better ERA than Bumgarners (2.60 vs. 2.74) and earned the Mets lone win in last years World Series. And lets not forget the decided advantage the Mets have in their bullpen if they can get Bumgarners pitch count up. Mets closer Jeurys Familia set a franchise record with 51 regular-season saves, while the Giants nearly had that number of blown saves. Whats more, the Mets enter the postseason as one of MLBs hottest teams. Their 27-13 record is the best in the majors since Aug. 20. -- Adam RubinI wont even resort to the even-year argument. Lets stick with the more tangible facts, such as Bumgarners 2.14 ERA in almost 90 postseason innings. The Giants offense is built for contact, which should help against Syndergaard. The Giants bullpen isnt as bad as it appeared. It was left exposed because of a September batting slump. That ends now.?-- Mark SaxonWhere the series standsUnlike last year, the Mets have one ace to ride this postseason, and theyre rolling him out here. You know what Bruce Bochy is hoping for: a complete game, similar to the one Bumgarner delivered in the 2014 wild-card game against the Pirates. After a rough finish for the Giants bullpen, you get the feeling Bochy will live or die with Bumgarner in this one. --?Schoenfield Cheap Jerseys From ChinaWholesale JerseysNike NFL Jerseys ChinaYouth NFL Jerseys ChinaCheap Jerseys ThrowbackWholesale NFL Womens JerseysCheap NFL Jerseys WholesaleWholesale NFL Camo JerseysStitched NFL JerseysCheap Stitched JerseysCheap NFL GearCheap Jerseys Free ShippingWholesale NFL T-shirtsDiscount JerseysWholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

DENVER -- Daniel Descalso ruined San Diegos perfect mark in the ninth inning and sent the Colorado Rockies to a wild win on a stormy night. http://www.eaglesrookiestore.com/Eagles-Caleb-Sturgis-Jersey/ .Descalso lined a game-winning, pinch-hit single off the center-field wall in the bottom of the ninth as the Rockies rallied past the Padres 8-7 on Friday.DJ LeMahieu had three hits to raise his batting average to .349. He is tied with Washingtons Daniel Murphy for the lead in the NL batting race. The Rockies trailed 7-5 entering the ninth against closer Brandon Maurer (0-5) after hail and rain in the top of the inning forced a 38-minute delay. Colorado appeared destined to lose its fourth straight game overall against a team that entered 50-0 when leading after eight innings.Theyve been a team that hasnt blown any leads coming into tonight going into the ninth, Descalso said. Their bullpens been pretty good. To come out after a rain delay and get the comeback win, hats off to our offense.LeMahieu started the comeback with a one-out double and Carlos Gonzalez singled him home one out later. Pinch-hitter David Dahl and Nick Hundley each fell behind Maurer 0-2 but recovered and singled to left to tie it.Descalso worked the count full before lining a fastball over the head of Travis Jankowski to score Dahl from third. It might be the only single off the wall Ive ever hit, Descalso said. I felt like he was kind of nibbling a little bit, trying not to make a mistake. Once he got to 3-2, I told myself to be ready for something over the plate.Adam Ottavino (1-2) got one out for the win.The game was delayed in the top of the ninth after a strong storm quickly blew through. Lightning flashed in the sky in the eighth inning before hail peppered the stadium in the top of the ninth, sending players and fans running for cover.I never saw anything like that in my life, Padres first baseman Wil Myers said. It didnt hurt terribly but it didnt feel good.It gave Colorado time to regroup and end a three-game losing streak.Too many sliders left over the middle of the plate and over the outer third, Padres manager Andy Green said.Myers and Luis Sardinas homered for San Diego. The Padres were playing a day after Major League Baseball suspended general manager A.J. Preller for 30 days without pay for failing to disclose medical information when pitcher Drew Pomeranz was traded to the Boston Red Sox in July.Green said before Fridays game the suspension has been tough on him.It has been hard over the last couple of days, Green said. The people I care about on a personal level that I respect immensely are having their names dragged through the mud right now.Green said he was never alerted to any medical issue with regard to Pomeranz that would have prevented him from pitching. He made 17 starts for us and threw 18 times. He never missed a start. Never missed a throwing session between starts, Green said. There was never a point in time when (pitching coach) Darren Balsley came to me and said, `Hey you need to be worried about Drew Pomeranz. Never did my trainers say anything about being concerned about Drew Pomeranz. The Padres took control early Friday but couldnt hold on. Myers hit a two-run homer in the first, his 25th, to get them on the board. After Colorados four-run second, San Diego responded with a three-run third to take a 5-4 lead. The Padres added a run in the fifth and Sardinas led off the sixth with a homer off starter Tyler Chatwood.Chatwood had two hits, including an RBI single in the second, but continued to struggle at home.LeMahieu has reached base in 32 straight games.TRAINERS ROOMPadres: INF Yangervis Solarte was sent home to deal with a family issue.UP NEXTThe Padres will send RHP Edwin Jackson (4-5, 5.32) to the mound against Rockies rookie RHP Jon Gray (9-8, 4.69) on Saturday. http://www.eaglesrookiestore.com/Eagles-Harold-Carmichael-Jersey/ . The 27-year-old Scrivens will be joining his third NHL club since signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent in 2010. GENEVA -- Two days after Russia finished fourth in the Olympic medal table, its Paralympic team was barred from the next big games in Rio de Janeiro as punishment for a state-backed doping program. http://www.packersrookiestore.com/Packers-Geronimo-Allison-Jersey/ .Sports highest court on Tuesday upheld a decision by the International Paralympic Committee to exclude the sports superpower. It was a step the IOC declined to take when it had the chance last month. The 267 entries which Russian Paralympic athletes earned in 18 sports for the Sept. 7-18 games in Rio will now be allocated to other nations not judged responsible for orchestrated cheating.Russia won 36 gold medals at the 2012 Paralympics, second most in London, and was a runaway table-topping leader at its home 2014 Winter Paralympics.Still, the Sochi Winter Games and Winter Paralympics are now notorious for results corrupted by state-funded agencies plotting to swap tainted doping samples from Russian athletes for clean ones at official testing laboratories. In the fallout from those recent revelations -- by the Russian lab director who has fled to the United States, and a World Anti-Doping Agency inquiry set up to investigate his claims -- the Court of Arbitration for Sport announced its urgent verdict Tuesday.CAS dismissed the Russian Paralympic Committees appeal against exclusion from competing in Rio after a hearing was held in Brazil on Monday. The court said its judges agreed the world Paralympic body did not violate any procedural rule in banning the Russian team two weeks ago. Then, in Rio, the IPC President Philip Craven had said of Russia that: Their medals over morals mentality disgusts me.(The) decision to ban the (Russian team) was made in accordance with the IPC Rules and was proportionate in the circumstances, the sports court said Tuesday in a statement.Russias Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev blamed the doping ban on politics. The investigation about the Russian doping is a thick and disgusting mix containing 80 percent of politics and 20 percent of the actual doping, the politics targeting against sports, Russian athletes and Russia as a country, Medvedev wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.Medvedev described the ban as a doubly cynical decision since were talking about people who have to overcome themselves every day. Its a blow for all disabled people, not just the Russian ones.A further appeal to Switzerlands federal court is possible, though unlikely before the games open, an attorney representing the Russian athletes, Alexei Karpenko, said in televised remarks. The Swiss supreme court could intervene if the legal process was abused by Lausanne-based CAS, though it would not re-judge the evidence. The CAS panel was satisfied that organized Russia doping was proven. The Russian appeal to CAS did not file any evidence contradicting the facts on which the IPC decision was based, the courts judging panel said. The world Paralympic governing body used evidence from an ongoing WADA-appointed investigation into a Russian state program of doping and cover-ups which ran from 2011 to 2015 in almost 30 summer and winter sports. The IPC said two weeks ago it had evidence of manipulated doping tests relating to 44 Russian athletes, including 27 from competitors in eight sports on the Paralympic program. On Tuesday, Craven said the ruling was a sad day for the Paralympic Movement, but we hope also a new beginning.Todays decision underlines our strong belief that doping has absolutely no place in Paralympic sport, and further improves our ability to ensure fair competition and a level playing field for all Para athletes around the world, Craven said in a statement.Still, it was not a day for celebration and we have enormous sympathy for the Russian athletes who will now miss out on the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the British official said.Craven is also a member of the International Olympic Committee, whose executive board declined to use similar evidence from WADA investigator Richard McLarens report to exclude Russia for the Rio Olympics which ended Sunday.Instead, the IOC asked individual sports governing bodies to decide if Russian teams and athletes could compete. Russias weightlifting team was banned and only one track and field athlete, who trained in the U.S. out of the Russian testing system, was ruled eligible.Russia won 56 Olympic medals, including 19 gold, in Rio to trail only the U.S., Britain and China.Medvedev suggested Russias strength as a competitor was a factor in the blanket ban.One certainly sees in this decision a striving of some leaders of the international Paralympic movement to eliminate strong rivals since our team always won top spots, the former state president wrote.---Associated Press writer Nataliya Vasilyeva in Moscow contributed to this report http://www.packersrookiestore.com/Packers-Bryan-Bulaga-Jersey/ . LOUIS -- Cardinals cleanup hitter Allen Craig says hes recovered from a foot injury and ready to be put on St. http://www.packersrookiestore.com/Hats/ . -- Brandon Jennings made the most of his first game with the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night. http://www.packersrookiestore.com/Packers-Reggie-White-Jersey/ . -- New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis is retiring after a 16-year career to become the goalie coach for the Los Angeles Galaxy. BEIJING -- Andy Murray won the China Open in Beijing on Sunday, defeating Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 7-6 (2), in a hard-fought match that featured plenty of acrobatics from both players.Playing in his ninth final of the season, the top-seeded Scot broke Dimitrov in the first game of the first set and again in the fifth game of the second. Murray looked to have the match in the bag serving at 5-4, but the Bulgarian finally broke his serve, then held his own to force the tiebreaker. The finals victory was Murrays first in three attempts at the China Open, having reached the quarterfinals on his debut and the semifinals in 2014.Agnieszka Radwanska had an easier time of it in the womens final, handily defeating Johanna Konta 6-4, 6-2.The third-seeded Pole added to her 2011 victory in the Beijing tournament, notching up her 20th career title and third of 2016. She took the victory without dropping a set throughout the tournament.Radwanska broke Konta in the third game but then was broken back in the eighth before holding her service to take the first set.She established her dominancce in the second set, breaking Konta twice before serving out for the win with an ace. http://www.packersrookiestore.com/Packers-Brett-Hundley-Jersey/. That was a really special week for me, Radwanska said in post-match comments. I really played great tennis, especially against top players.Radwanska has now won both of the pairs encounters. She sealed the victory with just six unforced errors to Kontas 29.The 11th-seeded Konta was making her first Beijing appearance and had already assured herself of a place in the next WTA top-10 rankings -- the first British woman to do so since Jo Durie in 1984.I guess its pretty cool. Im very pleased with my progress over the last few years, and hopefully, yes, still many more places to climb, said Konta, who was making her first appearance in Beijing. But as of now Im really enjoying my journey, Im really enjoying working hard and really working towards playing matches like these against players like Agnieszka, so hopefully Ill have many more in the future. (STATS) -- The only unbeaten FCS team remaining made its biggest statement of the season in its final regular season game Saturday. http://www.nflcardinalsrookiestore.com/Cardinals-Andy-Lee-Jersey/ .Sam Houston State has some more statements -- and wins -- planned for the postseason, entering it Sunday as the top-ranked team in the STATS FCS Top 25.Shortly before the NCAA announced its FCS playoff field, the Bearkats (11-0) gained 111 of the 151 first-place votes and 3,676 points to solidify the top ranking in the national media poll for the sixth straight week. It came on the heels of a 59-23 trouncing of then-No. 11 Central Arkansas in what basically was the Southland Conference championship game. You cant get any better than what we just did, third-year coach K.C. Keeler said, Eleven-0, conference champions, pretty much dominated almost every single game we played. It was a great accomplishment. Its two seasons. And this season that we just had here -- this regular season -- its the single greatest season Ive ever been around. All but one of the teams in the top 10 earned at least a share of their conference title, and the exception -- Villanova -- features the sentimental story line of a retiring head coach. Jacksonville State (10-1) was No. 2 in the final regular season poll after it finished off an unbeaten season in the Ohio Valley Conference for the third straight year.Eastern Washington (10-1) and North Dakota State (10-1) remained No. 3 and 4, respectively, after both earned a share of their conference title. EWU made it four Big Sky Conference titles in five seasons and NDSU made it six straight in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, moving into the playoffs with the goal of extending its record five straight FCS national titles.CAA Football James Madison (10-1) moved up one spot to No. 5, flip-flopping with The Citadel (10-1), which lost for the first time against North Carolina from the FBS level. South Dakota State (8-3), an MVFC co-champ, was No. 7 and North Dakota (9-2), a Big Sky co-champ, No. 8.Villanova (8-3) carried a No. 9 ranking after it sent coach Andy Talley into the playoffs in his 32nd and final season on the Wildcats sideline. Charleston Southern (7-3), which earned a share of its second straight Big South Conference crown, was No. 10.Chattanooga (8-3) moved up one spot to No. 11 after playing to a 31-3 loss at Alabama that wouldnt be registered by many FBS teams. Then it was Richmond (8-3); Youngstown State (8-3); Central Arkansas (9-2); Coastal Carolina (9-2); Grambling State (8-1); North Carolina A&T (9-2); Lehigh (9-2), the Patriot League champ; Wofford (8-3); and North Carolina Central (9-2), the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion.Rounding out the Top 25 were No. 21 Cal Poly (7-4), New Hampshire (7-4), Samford (7-4), and two teams appearing for the first time this season, Pioneer Football League champ San Diego (9-1) and Weber State (7-4).Eleven FCS conferences had at least one ranked team. The Big Sky, CAA and SoCon led with four each, the Missouri Valley had three, the MEAC and Southland two each, and the Big South, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Pioneer and SWAC had one each. Coastal Carolina is an FCS independent.A national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries select the STATS FCS Top 25. In the voting, a first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote. The final Top 25 will follow the FCS championship game, to be held Jan. 7 in Frisco, Texas. http://www.nflcardinalsrookiestore.com/Cardinals-Karlos-Dansby-Jersey/ . Brandon Morrow allowed five runs on six hits over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and hit a batter. Edwin Encarnacion had a two-out, bases loaded two-RBI double in the third inning. http://www.nflcardinalsrookiestore.com/Hats/ . They had already blown a double-digit lead, fans were hitting the exits, and a long seven-game road trip waited at the end. http://www.nflcardinalsrookiestore.com/Cardinals-Jared-Veldheer-Jersey/ . Q: Team Canada announces their Olympic roster three weeks from today. Who is general manager Steve Yzerman watching? LeBrun: Over the last 48 hours, hes taken in the home-and-home between the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche with Jamie Benn and Matt Duchene being the obvious targets. Adelaide and Brisbane faced off during Round 7 of the NBL with the game never really amounting into a genuine contest, the Bullets controlling the contest from the opening tip before eventually running out 105-87 victors.Ultimately, the biggest story to come out of the game took place early on in the second quarter. After having been called for an illegal screen, Bullets player Daniel Kickert and 36ers player Anthony Drmic exchanged a few words before it appeared Kickert interjected with his head.?The incident didnt go unnoticed with the 36ers officially referring it to the NBLs Game Review Panel after Chief Executive Guy Hedderwick and Coach Joey Wright viewed the footage.Unfortunately for the 36ers, the GRPs finding was that while the headbutt was intentional, it was of low impact; meaning it carries a base penalty of a one-game suspension or, with an early guilty plea, a $1,000 fine. http://www.nflcardinalsrookiestore.com/Cardinals-Rodney-Gunter-Jersey/. oach Joey Wright was unhappy after the GRPs ruling was delivered and he vented his frustration on Twitter.Only two minutes later, Daniel Kickert innocuously sent out a tweet aimed at the 36ers and was met with some heated words from the 36ers coach. The Adelaide 36ers travel to Brisbane to face the Bullets on Thursday night in what is sure to be a heated contest between the two sides. The main storyline coming into DreamHack Bucharest was centered around teams trying to prove their worth and dominance. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Thomas-Lemar-Jersey/ . In the end, only one team was able to do just that. With the incredibly strong showing over the weekend, Virtus.pro has cemented itself once again as one of the best teams in the world. Time will tell if it can ride the wave of momentum into ESL One: New York. Cloud9, on the other hand, has shown the world that it may not yet be ready for the big leagues. While it is currently running circles around the NA ESL Pro League, that hasnt translated into international play.Cloud9 takes victory over EnvyThe action got started with Cloud9 vs. Team EnVyUs, which was the most tightly contested series of the tournament. It started off on Cache in Game 1 with Cloud9s Timothy autimatic Ta putting on a stellar performance, racking up multiple triple kills which contributed to his 26/11 kill/death ratio (KD) in the game, helping earn a 16-9 win.Not content to let Cloud9 walk away with an easy win, Kenny kennyS Schrub continued his dominant tournament run with another strong performance. He compiled a 24/14 KD in the game that saw Team EnVyUs go down 0-7 before taking a tactical timeout and turning things around for a 16-10 victory.Ultimately, it came down to a final showdown on Dust 2 to see who would make their way to the grand finals. This time around, Team EnVyUs got off to a great 7-0 start, which led to a timeout from Cloud9. The tactical timeouts in this series seemed to work wonders, as Cloud9 bounced back from the early deficit to secure the series win. Showing that theyve got a number of top tier players, Game 3 saw Mike shroud Grzesiek lead the charge with a 25/11 KD.Virtus.pro takes down Dignitas in close setNext up was Virtus.pro taking on Team Dignitas in the second semifinal. Virtus.pro flew out of the gate in Game 1 of the series and completely dominated Team Dignitas in a 16-4 win on Mirage. The game saw both Wiktor TaZ Wojtas (20/8 KD) and Janusz Snax Pogorzelski (20/9 KD) set the tone in the game with their high-level fragging. Game 2 on Cobblestone started off in a similar vein to Game 1, with Virtus.pro getting off to an 8-4 start. They started to take their foot off the gas, though, and Team Dignitas capitalized on it. Emil Magiskb0Y Reif was catalyst for Team Dignitas in this game with his 28/17 KD.The decisive Game 3 would take place on Overpass, and was the closest game of the series. It was an incredibly back-and-forth affair that didnt see Virtus.pro make its final push until late in the game. Virtus.pro snagged two rounds before the veteran Filip NEO Kubski decided it was time to end things and sealed the win with a clutch 1 vs. 5 ace in the final round. With the 16-13 win, Virtus.pro punched its ticket to the grand finals to take on the North American juggernaut, Cloud9.Virtus.pro dominates the grand finalsUnfortunately, the grand final wasnt the clash of titans that everyone hoped it would be. Seeing the current top dogs of the NA Counter Strike: Global Offensive scene take on the reigning ELEAGUE champions should have been a matchup of epic proportions. Instead, the audience was treated to a dominating performance by the veteran European CS:GO squad.Virtus.pro started off extremely strong in Game 1 on Train. They would go into the half up 12-3, and never looked back in the 16-9 win. NEO, who had a subdued tournament up to this point, turned on the afterburners in this grand final. He posted an impressive 28/13 KD in the opening game win. Game 2 on Cobblestone started off a bit more shaky for Virtus.pro, as Cloud9 started to get into a nice groove and went into the half up 9-6. At the start of the second half, though, Cloud9 simply faded into the background and watched as Virtus.pro ran away with the game. The veteran Polish squad rattled off 10 straight wins in to secure the sweep and take home the DreamHack Bucharest crown. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Jan-Oblak-Jersey/ . The Barrie Colts defenceman, who impressed many with his play for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship, is the top-ranked skater in the February rankings. Jefferson has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Gelson-Martins-Jersey/ . Detroit and Boston are deadlocked, 1-1, and Tigers manager Jim Leyland could be forgiven if he was caught rationalizing instead of dissecting how his club could blow a 5-1 lead late in Game 2. SAN FRANCISCO -- Clayton Richard hopes to build upon some sensational statistics since joining the San Diego Padres when he faces the playoff-contending San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night. The 33-year-old, twice a 14-game winner earlier in his career with the Padres, has gone 2-2 with a 1.15 ERA in seven appearances, including five starts, since rejoining the club in August after a two-year stint with the Chicago Cubs. The left-hander has been better than ever in recent efforts, allowing just one run over his last three starts. Two of those outings were on the road against teams competing with the Giants for playoff positions -- the Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants (77-66) currently trail the Los Angeles Dodgers (81-62) by four games in the National League West. San Francisco leads the NL wild-card race.Even Richards two losses as a Padre were impressive. He allowed a total of two earned runs in losses to the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks when he was given a grand total of two runs of offensive support.Richard has struck out 26 in his 31 1/3 innings for the Padres. The matchup of the night could be Richard against one of baseballs hottest hitters, Giants right fielder Hunter Pence.Pence will take a 13-for-20 (.650) streak into the game, having gone 2-for-4 in Mondays 4-0 loss to Paul Clemens and the Padres.Pence is hitting .481 (13-for-27) against the Padres this season, but hes gone just 1-for-9 with three strikeouts in his career against Richard.Weve had guys hot and cold since the break. We have not been consistent, Giants manager Bruce Bochy lamented after Mondays shutout, which came on the heels of a three-game winning streak during which San Francisco scored 23 runs. Atletico Madrid Jerseys. . It looked like we came out of it in Arizona. It sure looks bad to get shut out when you get back home the first day.The Giants will counter on the mound with Albert Suarez, who has pitched well enough as an injury-replacement starter this season to retain a rotation spot even after veterans Matt Cain and Jake Peavy have returned to the active roster.Suarez has gone 3-3 with a 4.37 ERA in 19 games, splitting time between the starting rotation (nine) and the bullpen (10).The rookie has faced the Padres just once this season, that having been in relief on July 16, when he kept San Diego scoreless for 1 2/3 innings despite allowing two hits and three walks.Suarez will be facing a Padres team that rode catcher Hector Sanchezs three-hit night to the series-opening win Monday.Sanchez, who spent his first five seasons with the Giants, broke open the win with a two-run homer off Jeff Samardzija in the sixth inning. It was his third homer of the season, and just his third in 119 career games at AT&T Park.He has to feel good about hitting a homer here, Padres manager Andy Green said of Sanchez after the game. Im sure hes got some great memories here. The Padres win was their fourth straight over the Giants after they had opened the season with nine consecutive losses against their California rival.San Diego had lost 11 in a row in San Francisco before Monday. Pakistan fielding coach Steve Rixon has warned England that conditions in Manchester should suit the Pakistan bowling attack more than those at Lords. Aqib Talib Rams Jersey . Pakistan won the first Investec Test to take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, with Yasir Shah claiming ten wickets in the match. But Rixon said the extra bounce anticipated in the Old Trafford wicket will assist both Yasir and Pakistans seamers and feels that Mohammad Amir, with his much-anticipated return behind him, will be able to relax and produce improved performances in the rest of the series. This pitch will suit both forms of our attack, Rixon said. I think our seamers will do very well here with the extra bounce. They had a role to play in the last game, but probably didnt start as well as they would have liked.Amir can move on now. And I do congratulate the Lords crowd again because they absolutely embraced him. They could have made life very hard for him, but they were very good. Fair play to them.Comparing Yasirs exceptional control to that of Shane Warne, Rixon suggested that all Test teams would struggle to play him. Yasir went to the top of the Test bowling rankings as a result of his haul at Lords and requires 14 wickets from the next two games to break George Lohmanns long-held record for being quickest to 100 Test victims.Generally speaking, Yasir will have a major effect in any game of cricket, Rixon said. It doesnt have to turn a lot for him to have an impact. When you have magnificent control you are in the game and there are very few who have had that. Shane Warne is one and Yasir is rightfully sitting at the top of the tree for that reason. Most countries around the world play wristies (wristspinners) quite poorly to be honest, so to see someone master it and play them well is a treat to see but I havent seen a lot that do that yet.Rixon also praised the spirit within the Pakistan camp. Impressed by the fitness and preparation of the team after their boot camp in Pakistan and prolonged training camp in Hampshire at the start of the tour, Rixon talked of building a culture within the squad. What weve got is a group of youngsters who we are getting up to speed and building a culture, he said. I wasnt there for the boot camp but it obviously did make a big difference. It was part of an overall culture change. Now we have to rebuild that culture and make sure everyone is on the same page. But Rixon has warned Pakistan they should expect a strong reaction from England and expects both James Anderson and Ben Stokes to play in Manchester.Jimmy Anderson is a great bowler and hell be a treat in any side, Rixon said. He and Stokes are very fine cricketers. They will add to the England attack and overall composition of the side. We are expecting as hard a game as well get in the series right here.Having won at Lords, the pressure is probably on us. So we need to get our game in order. If we do that and win here, then happy days. But if we lose here and the momentum swings the other way then we have two games in Birmingham and The Oval which create a lot of pressure for our youngsters. So its very important we get it right here. MALIBU, Cali. http://www.eaglesrookiestore.com/Eagles-Tommy-Mcdonald-Jersey/ . -- The Pepperdine Waves scored a goal in the first half and two in the second half, combined with a shutout in net to knock off the Kentucky womens soccer team, 3-0, in Malibu on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats were much better with the ball in the second half, dictating the pace of play and having much more of the ball and scoring chances in the second 45 minutes. Pepperdine, known for being deadly on the counter, used that expertise to their advantage on Sunday, scoring each of their first two goals off of Kentucky giveaways that resulted in counters.Kentucky will open its home slate of matches on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET from the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington. The match will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app. Free pizza will be available to all UK students in attendance of the match.Fans can purchase season ticket scarves from the UK Ticket Office by logging on to UKathletics.com/tickets or by calling (800) 928-2287 or locally at (859) 257-1818. The purchase of one (1) season ticket is good for entry for one person to each game.In the first half of a fairly-evenly played match, a Kentucky miscommunication along the backline resulted in a turnover and the Waves Rylee Baisden intercepted the ball and had a 1v1 with Kentucky goalkeeper Evangeline Soucie (0-1-1) and slotted it to Soucies left for the goal.At halftime, Kentucky trailed 1-0 with Pepperdine holding a 9-4 lead in shots and 3-2 edge in shots on goal.In the second half, Kentucky had much of the ball for the first 25 minutes and was playing through its midfield much more consistently, but Pepperdine against capitalized on a giveaway after Kentucky had two golden scoring opportunities by LaMaya Williams and Kelly Novak go wide. The goal Pepperdine scored was in the 68th minute, and is was Baisdens second of the match and third of the season.UK then transitioned into a three back, and moved centerback Zoe Swift back up top to try and go for a result and after two corners and a few more misses, Pepperdine got a free kick 25 yards from goal, and after the initial clearance, the Waves got organized and pinged Kentuckys defense for a third goal.Pepperdine outshot the Wildcats 18-9 and each team recorded three saves in the match. The Waves, who knocked off No. 16 Arizona 3-1 to start the season on Friday night, move to 2-0-0 on the season. A police sergeant making sure people remained orderly while they left a downtown club shortly after 2 a.m. saw the 6-foot-9 Jones walk by a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping and yell "Wake Up!" before lifting his foot and stomping on one mans leg, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, a Portland police spokesman. Jones, 21, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a misdemeanour harassment charge. He was released on his own recognizance and later pleaded not guilty at hiss arraignment. http://www.eaglesrookiestore.com/Eagles-Jay-Ajayi-Jersey/. He did not speak with reporters. His next court date is Sept. 6. The homeless man, identified as 46-year-old Daniel Kellerher, had a minor injury that did not require immediate medical attention, Simpson said. Jones graduated from Portlands Jefferson High School before attending the University of Kentucky. The Rockets selected Jones with the 18th pick of the 2012 draft. He played sparingly in his rookie season, averaging 5.5 points in 19 games. MEXICO CITY -- Terry Bradshaw, Jack Lambert and Santonio Holmes are sitting at a table, yelling at Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell over a basket of wings. http://www.steelersrookiestore.com/Steelers-Vance-Mcdonald-Jersey/ . Ben Roethlisberger and his girlfriend, Tom Brady, are making mock-angry eyes at each other in a corner booth. A tiny LeVeon Bell is playing Minecraft with his little sister. Its Oct. 23, the Sunday afternoon that the New England Patriots are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers, and a couple of thousand miles away from Heinz Field, at a Buffalo Wild Wings near the Roma Sur section of Mexico City, members of Steelers Nation United Mexico are eating and drinking, living and dying, waving Toallas Terribles. If you want to know why the Houston Texans are playing the Oakland Raiders in Estadio Azteca on Monday -- the first Monday Night Football game ever played outside the United States -- this is why.The passion Mexicans have for American football is why tickets for the game sold out almost immediately. Its why renovations were done on Aztecas locker rooms to accommodate NFL-sized squads (the regular futbol tenants dont require nearly as much space) and the stadiums broadcasting facilities were upgraded. Its why four Mexican sports channels partner with the NFL, why nine games are broadcast in Spanish from Thursday to Monday of every week, why estimates put the number of NFL fans nationwide at over 20 million. As Arturo Olivé, NFL Mexicos general director, says, Were tremendously excited, not only for this game but for the future of the sport in Mexico. We havent had a regular-season game here since 2005, but now I think we can have one every year. ... By every measure, we are seeing tremendous growth. While the Cowboys and Steelers are our most popular teams, the Raiders and Texans also have a great many fans, and every team has a following. The cake is getting better, and that means more slices.Speaking of cake, Jack Lambert is digging into a gigantic slab of chocolate cake, covered in ice cream. That was preceded by a basket of wings and a giant cheeseburger. His real name is Sergio Perez, and he once played center in college. He and about 50 other fans have come to this restaurant, some wearing jerseys that would impress a fan in a Buffalo Wild Wings in, say, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Who knew Maurkice Pouncey, No. 53, could travel this far? We call this the Steel Cave, says Antonio Pi?ón, a stockbroker who heads the fan club -- and wears the Santonio Holmes jersey. Its a shame Roethlisberger is not playing. Torn meniscus. We miss Cachetón.Cachetón?It means Cheeky. Like when your grandmother pinches your cheeks so they puff out. Dont you think Ben has those kinds of cheeks?Agreed. But even more striking than the quarterbacks face is the cheek-to-cheek familiarity these fans have with the Steelers. Pittsburgh held a two-day football camp last May in Mexico City, Pi?ón says. A truly great experience, not only for us but for the Steelers. [People were] lining up as early as 6 a.m. The Steelers who came down -- Antwaan Randle-El, Willie Parker, Jerome Bettis, Alejandro Villanueva -- were truly kind, shaking hands, walking slowly so we could take pictures with them. Look, heres a picture of me with Bettis.A quick count reveals that 17 of the 25 TV screens in the restaurant have the Steelers game on. The man in the Bradshaw jersey asks imploringly, When are we ever going to sack Brady? He is Alberto Perez Schoelly, a government economist, and he has brought his two adult sons, one of whom is Sergio. Schoelly, like many Mexicans, became a Steelers fan in the 1970s, when the team was in its heyday and Imevisión (now TV Azteca) started broadcasting games on a regular basis. Ah, the Steel Curtain, he says. I remember the Immaculate Reception like it was yesterday.Just then, the Steelers hit Brady. And Pi?ón leads the group in a cheer:Here we go, Steelers, here we go.Here we go, Steelers, here we go.Alas, the Steelers go on to get beaten rather easily 27-16. But the members of Steelers Nation United Mexico, members who officially number in the thousands, arent just about winning. The point of the club, Pi?ón says, is to get people to leave their houses, get off their couches, to go somewhere for three hours to forget their troubles and shout and scream without having someone tell you to keep it down. Thats whats so great about football.Mark Waller, the NFLs executive vice president for international, has said that in the next 10 years, I think we will have at least one or two franchises outside of the U.S. Given the leagues games in London and Mexico City this season, the front-runners would seem to be Great Britain and Mexico.Whenever I make a presentation, Olivé says, I get kidded by my colleagues because one of the first slides is always a quote from Thomas Friedman of The New York Times. A few years ago, he wrote, In India, people ask you about China, and, in China, people ask you about India: Which country will become the more dominant economic power in the 21st century? I now have the answer: Mexico.A visitor can sense right away why the NFL is bullish on the countrys potential. A man in a Steelers jersey roller-skates in a park with his daughters in pink Steelers shirts. Billboards trumpet Mondays game. An Uber driver, Ulices Torres, says hes a Seahawks fan and really misses Marshawn Lynch. A panhandler in a Raiders stocking cap asks for spare change. An electric company employee, Fernando Navarro, hoists a glass at Hooters with an upper arm that has an exquisite tattoo of the Steelers logo on it. Im going to the Steelers-Cowboys game, he proudly announces. And if the visitor wanders into a small shopping center in the Jardines del Pedregal section of Mexico City, he will find an immaculate store devoted to NFL merchandise. At Carlos Rosado Sports, jerseys from nearly every team are sold, as is playing equipment. High on the wall is a No. 15 New York Jets jersey. But it is not there to pay tribute to Brandon Marshall. It belongs to Carlos Rosado.Once upon a time, the 2003 preseason to be exact, Rosado was a wide receiver for the Jets. Rosado, who had played his football at the University of the Americas in Mexico City, was a veteran of the now-defunct NFL Europe (the Barcelona Dragons and Amsterdam Admirals), and coach Herm Edwards brought him to Jets camp to see whether he had NFL potential.Rosado lasted the whole preseason before getting cut -- the Jets already had Wayne Chrebet and Santana Moss at wide receiver. But he remembers the experience fondly. Herm Edwards was very nice to me, and so were the quarterbacks, Chad Pennington and Vinny Testaverde, Rosado says. I will never forget the thrill when I came out of the tunnel at Giants Stadium for the first time.Besides being the proprietor of the store, Rosado also works as an analyst for Fox Sports, so he has seen the interest in pro football in Mexico skyrocket since he played. But there is one aspect of the sport that he and other NFL lovers in the country worry about. The growth has been horizontal, Rosado says. I think the next step is to make it vertical. We need to build better teams so that we can find players who can become stars in the NFL.American football is not new to Mexico. Legend has it that the game was introduced in Veracruz in 1896, when college students home from the States and American sailors played some friendly games. By the 1920s, two Mexico City universities had teams: UNAMs Pumas Dorados and the Burros Blancos of Instituto Politécnico Nacional. There was even a 1962 movie -- Juventud Sin Dios (Youth Without God) -- made about the priest who coached the Burros, Father Lambert J. Dehner. In 1955, the Baltimore Colts drafted Alex Esquivel, a running back from Mexico City, in the 24th round. He didnt last long, but in subsequent years a string of Mexican-born kickers caught on: Efren Herrera, Rafael Septien, Frank Corral and Raul Allegre, who helped the New York Giants win Super Bowl XXI and now works as an NFL analyst for ESPN Deportes. Quarterbacks Joe Kapp and Jim Plunkett also became popular because of their Mexican heritage, but they were really products of the American football system.A true Mexican football star is on Olivés wish list, as well. Remember Fernandomania? the executive says. When [Fernando] Valenzuela came out of Mexico and became such a sensation with the Dodgers in the early 80s, he did wonders for the sport and for this country. Can you imagine what would happen if we had a Fernando for football? To that end, the NFL has given significant support to flag football -- tochito -- leagues for younger players. And while the Mexican professional league that debuted in 2016 with four teams is nothing to write home about, there are signs that college football is getting better. In 2009, a Monterrey Tech team beat Blinn College 35-14 in an exhibition game, which was significant because (1) Blinn went on to win the national junior college championship, and (2) Blinns quarterback was Cam Newton, who got the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl six years later. They were so organized, Newton recalls about Monterrey Tech.Top-notch Mexican college football is often compared to Division III football in the States, and judging from a Tuesday afternoon practice by the UNAM Pumas, that seems about right. Except that the Pumas have a little more size and speed for their spread offense than normal D-III schools, and they practice with more intensity than most small colleges. Hey, there have been Division III players in the NFL before.I think we would surprise fans from the United States, says Herminio Rojas, a senior running back and captain of the team. Asked whether he could play in the NFL, Rojas laughed and said, Not me. My favorite player is LaDainian Tomlinson, and I would have no chance of tackling him. Besides, my ambition is to be a doctor.Otto Ulrike Becerril, who took over for highly successful UNAM head coach Raul Rivera this year, says, Mexican players are so much stronger and bigger than they were 10 years ago. I would not be surprised if we produced an NFL impact player in the next few years.Let me put it this way. The wall between the United States and Mexico is getting smaller in football. And then he winked.Theres no getting around it. The future of American football in Mexico hinges in large part on the political climate on both sides of the border, and with the election of Donald Trump as President last week, the forecast is somewhat iffier than it mightve been had his opponent, Hillary Clinton, won. (Mexican President Enrique Pe?a Nieto did phone Trump to congratulate him last week.)Even with Trump as president, an NFL game in Mexico every year is quite plausible. The Steelers, recognizing their strong fan base to the south, have even said they would give up a home game to play in Mexico.John Sutcliffe, the ESPN Deportes analyst who usually travels to every Monday Night Football game but gets to stay home this Monday, doesnt think the outcome of the election will alter the course of the future: I dont think Trump winning will have a negative effect on the games the NFL will bring to Mexico. But a permanent franchise remains a distant dream. I would dearly love to have a team in Mexico, says Sutcliffe. And I know we have the fan base to support it, millions of people who have fallen for the game the same way I did when I first heard Dandy Don and Howard Cosell. But economics and politics may prevent that from happening any time soon.Getting enough fans to sell out one game is a lot easier than getting enough fans willing to buy expensive season tickets, which is the lifeblood of any NFL franchise. But as Olivé points out, the success of the NFL in Mexico does not hinge on whether it gets a franchise. My goal is for the American people to come to see Mexicans for who we really are, vis-à-vis the image that is so often and so unfairly projected. And I think that our mutual passion for the NFL might open some eyes. If I can help do that, mission accomplished.Heres another way to open a visitors eyes. On any given Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night, drop by the badly lit soccer field at Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City, across from the velodrome used for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. There you will find a sort of Star Wars cantina of American football: five or six touch football games, some co-ed, orbiting a practice for Los Tigres de Bengala, an over-40 tackle team in the police league. Its 11 p.m., and balls are flying all over the place. Los Tigres are scrimmaging, laughing and whaling away at each other, mindless of the hour. Their coach, a dashing advertising man named Rodolfo Batman Garcia, is less interested in actually coaching than in telling you about the bikini football league he has organized. Not all of the players are policemen, but almost all of them have two jobs, and that makes their dedication even more impressive. Why do they do this? Batman asks. Because they love football. Isnt that a good enough answer?Steve Wulf Wulf is a senior writer for ESPN. A founding editor of ESPN The Magazine, he has written extensively for Time, Entertainment Weekly and Sports Illustrated. BOSTON -- One bad pitch and a baserunning blunder had the Tampa Bay Rays doing a lot of second guessing.Mired in the AL East basement, the Rays blew an early three-run lead -- that could have been more if Tim Beckham hustled home -- when Bostons Hanley Ramirez hit a grand slam. Aaron Hill later sliced an RBI single to break an eighth-inning tie on Wednesday, helping the Red Sox beat the Rays 8-6.Difficult loss. We get out to an early lead, have some real good at-bats against a good pitcher thats having a good year, Rays manager Kevin Cash said. A walk here and couple of hits, then the big home run by Hanley really killed us.The Rays opened a 4-1 lead in the fourth on Kevin Kiermaiers RBI single, but he was cut down trying to stretch to a double and Beckham didnt hustle to the plate, nullifying another run.The biggest mistake: Kiermaier or Beckham?Definitely the not hustling, Cash said. Thats required of us and probably the easiest part to do in baseball.Kiermaier had three hits for the Rays, and Logan Forsythe and Logan Morrison each homered in the first four innings against Steven Wright.Boston took the lead in the fifth after Drew Smyly loaded the bases on two hits and a two-out walk.Ramirez hit the next pitch over the Green Monster for his 19th homer of the season.Smyly was keeping Bostons hitters off stride for most the early innings with good off-speed pitches, but elected to try a fastball against Ramirez. In my mind I was thinking: `Be careful, Smyly said. I was convicted to throwing it, it just leaked back over the middle.Jackie Bradley Jr., who had three hits, and Xander Bogaerts each homered for the Red Sox. SAN FRANCISCO, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Marine biologists at Stanford University have discovered that corals activate a specific group of ancient, defensive genes when exposed to stressful environmental conditions.

By monitoring three coral colonies in a lagoon on Ofu Island, American Samoa, for their response to stressors like high temperatures, oxygen, and ocean acidity, the researchers saw a significant change in which genes the corals were activating within their cells.

These stress-induced genes could serve as a kind of warning sign for coral bleaching events.

Under stressful conditions, a coral's normal cellular functions begin to fail. In response, the group of genes identified in this study triggers a process, called the unfolded protein response, that works to restore normal conditions within the cell. If conditions continue to worsen, the corals bleach and eventually die.

Over the course of the seventeen-day study, Steve Palumbi, a professor of marine sciences and an author of a paper published in the latest issue of Science Advances, together with graduate student Lupita Ruiz-Jones, monitored over 17,000 coral genes at just after noon each day.

On the seventh and eighth day, when tides were lowest and temperatures hottest, the corals' genes initiated the cellular unfolded protein response. On day nine, the tides rose and the corals' systems returned to normal.

"For the first time, we are able to ask those corals, 'how are you doing?' They don't have a heartbeat. They don't have a pulse. We need to know their vital signs in order to understand how they react to the environment," Palumbi was quoted as saying in a news release from Stanford.

The lagoon on Ofu Island, a shallow turquoise bathtub, provided the ideal coral laboratory for studying heat-tolerant corals. The corals on Ofu experience water temperatures near human body temperature, enough to kill most coral species. However, they prosper in stressful environmental conditions.

Scientists believe that frequent, pulsing exposure to high temperatures may make corals stronger, much in the same way athletes train for competition. Understanding why some of the world's toughest corals are so heat-tolerant could help scientists identify and map other survivor coral colonies around the globe.

The stress response has been observed in mammals as well as some yeast species. Humans activate the same ancient genes in response to diseases, like cancer.

In times of stress, a cell's misfolded and unfolded proteins accumulate in the endoplasmic reticulum, a series of flattened, tube-like structures in the cell that assist with building proteins. The unfolded protein response is a reaction to the flood of misassembled proteins.

"It's basically the organism recognizing that something isn't right," Ruiz-Jones said.

In the corals' case, Palumbi said, "they started using a whole set of genes that they had just not been using before."
